My Ozanne link is through Susanna Dove White, born c 1841, who married an Ozanne (Christian name unknown). They had at least three children, Frederick, Florence and Mabel. In 1881 Susanna, who was a widow, was a draper of 16-18 Mill Street, St Peter Port. Mabel married her cousin Fred Molteno, son of Susanna's sister Georgi(a)na Pope White and her husband Frederick Molteno, a photographer. They all lived in St Peter Port, although for a short time Frederick, Georgina, Fredk jnr and Georgina's sister Rosalie White, lived in Fulham, London.
I don't know when Susanna's husband died, or whether they had more than three children, nor do I know what happened to Florence and Frederick Ozanne.
The Guernsey names linked in with this family are Ash, Hubert, Hunkin, Lee, Molteno, Penstone-Franklin, Wheadon, White, Wood.
These linked families are all descended from Thomas Soudon Wood (b1783) and his wife Martha Uglow (b1784), who came from North Devon originally, then moved to Plymouth. One of the Wood family married Henry Ash (b 1797), and their son George Wood Ash, b 1828 married Caroline Wheadon. The Hubert and Penstone-Franklin families are descended from this line.
Another Wood, Prudence, born Plymouth 1812, married William White, and three of their daughters married Ozanne, Molteno and Hunkin respectively.
I'm descended from the Wood daughter Mary Couch Wood,bc1813, who stayed in Plymouth and married Joseph Barry
If you have any information on the Ozannes of this family, or any other branches of this clan, I'd be very grateful. Likewise, if anyone would like information on the people I've mentioned, I'd be happy to share it.

Hello Kim. It's been two years since you posted a your Ozanne query - so I hope you're still about.
I was pleased to see your notes about the links to my great grandmother Georgiana Pope White who married Frederick John Molteno, a photographer in London and Kandy, Ceylon. I have the children as Frederick Arthur, Herbert, Percy, Leonard (who was killed in France 1916) and my grandmother, Elsie Rose Molteno who married Arthur Lee in St Peter Port in 1909 and moved to Herefordshire.
My cousin and I were talking about the Ozanne link last night because she is going to Guernsey next week with my uncle Richard John Molteno Lee (84), and was hoping to do some research. I see 'Aunty Flo' died there in 1958.
I'm sorry not to be of more help. If you are interested, I have some Molteno letters and pictures which I'll look through again, and I have a photo of a William (Pitt) White portrait while in the navy, plus his sketch of the Guernsey naval signal flag station.
Regards Richard

Many thanks for your message, Yes, I'm still here, and still working at the family history. I'd love to see the additional info you have. Your uncle Richard lives only about 25 miles from here. We have tried to visit, but never found a convenient occasion. I have some more info on the Guernsey line, which might be useful before the Guernsey trip. I'll phone him and see if we can find a more direct way of keeping in touch. All the best Kim

Thanks for your quick reply Kim. I have just been on the phone to my cousin to give her the news. She recalls the time about two years ago when you made contact with my uncle which came at a time when my aunt was not so well. I can't give you any details here, but my cousin Mary will speak to my uncle Richard (Lee) tonight, which I hope will result in more direct contact. Since you called them, their phone number has been changed and is now ex-directory for other reasons. I'll wait to hear from my cousin and contact you again soon. I think I have your email address at AOL from other mails of yours. Regards, Richard rlee.elite@dsl.pipex.com

Hi, I am interested in finding some more out about the families mentioned in your message. I am married to a Molteno, his Great Grandmother was Georgiana White who married Frederick Molteno. I have had great difficulty in doing my research for Guersey from Australia. I have a photograph of Georgianna, several of Fred and one that I believe to be Prudence Woods Any help would be appreciated Jenny

Hi Jenny Yes, I can help. As you probably know, Georgiana White was the daughter of Prudence Wood and William White. Prudence Wood was the sister of my gt-gt-grandmother Mary Couch Wood, which means we are related! I've traced the ancestry of Prudence and Mary back via Plymouth to the north Devon/Cornwall borders, and have plenty of info for you. Richard Lee, who posted his address in a previous answer, is even more closely related to you than I am. Do contact him. He'd be delighted to hear from you, and will give you my email address so that we can contact each other directly. Incidentally, I met Fred Molteno (jnr) when he travelled from Guernsey to London for the Coronation in 1953! He was quite an elderly man, and I was only a child, but I remember him very clearly. Fred married his cousin, Mabel Ozanne, but they had no children. I look forward to hearing from you and passing on any information that might help you. Best wishes. Kim
