Oyer - Eyer families in Northampton county, PA.
Looking to share information with anyone researching the Oyer - Eyer families of Northampton county, PA. My common ancestor is Martin Eyer who came to America in 1749. These families lived primarily in Mt Bethel township and Bangor.

I have an Michael Sarah Oyer in the1850 census who say that they are from Pa. and their son in 1880 census saying that they are from England. Perhaps you could make a connection there. I have never heard the Eyer spelling before.

If you could tell me what county and township in Pa. the census were taken, I could help you more. My Eyer/Oyer family came to America from Alsace, France in 1749. The names have been used interchangeably in bap-tismal records, wills, census records, and tax records ever since.

My Father was Melvin Eugene Oyer, he was born in Flanagan Il. His birth name was Thompson, but he was adopted at the age of 10 by Irven Sylvester Oyer. Irven's parents were Ben Oyer and Mary Zehr. I'm looking for any of Melvin's Brothers or Sisters, I have been told that there were 8 or 9. Any info on the Oyer's in Flanagan, Il. would be helpful.

My greatgrandfather was Benjamin Eyer. We believe his middle name to be Warren. He died in the mid 1960s and lived in Ackermanville PA just outside of Bangor in Northhampton County. I have a family portrait and it looks like he had 4 brothers and 1 sister.

He was the son of Wellington Eyer and Sarah Elizabeth Beck. What kind of infor- mation can I provide you with ?

Re: Oyer - Eyer families in Northampton county, PA.
Do you have any information on Jacob Oyer who married Margaret Dietrich/Dietterich. She was b. Apr 12, 1787 and died between 1850 and 1860? They lived in Upper Mt. Bethel, Northampton County. I'd like to know the names of their children and where Jacob and Margaret were buried. Can also share info on the Dietrich family. Please contact me at kskaluba@aol.com. Thanks!

Bennie W. Eyer was my greatgrandfather too. I would love to have a copy of that portrait that you mentioned. My grandmother, Annabel Elizabeth, was his first child with his first wife who died shortly after my grandmother's birth. Did you have any luck with finding out any more information about him.

Hi there. I searched around and found a family in the 1930 census with a Melvin Thompson who fits the age. There were 8 children - and I was unable to find the parents in the 1940 census. So maybe this is the family you are seeking. Parents were Warren E and Marie G Thompson, both born in Illinois. The children are Hiram E, Clifford S, Richard N, Louise I, Irena J, Wilfred W and Imogene. There were living in Kansas, Woodford County, Illinois.
