hello. my nanna is an oxby, from kinoulton way in nottinghamshire. im her oldest grand-daughter. I have been looking for the line of my surname, mattock, which is the name my nanna took on when she married. I am responding to your post from ages ago, because really, arent there that many oxby's about? my nanna has always said that oxby is a very english surname. This is great, because even though i cant and havent found anything on my surname, ive found out nice things about my nannas family. Do you know what oxby line you are from at all?

John OXBY AND sARAH mARTHA aRCHER were my great grandparents. Their daughter, Annie, was my grandmother. She had 4 girls - Nellie, Kate, Gladys and Nancy. She died having her the last child (Nancy)when she was about 35. Annie's husband, rEUBEN fAIRHOLM, died in the First World War I think the following year. It is very important that I make contact with descendents of both Oxbys and Archers.

Again, I recognize these names...they are in Keith Oxby's family tree [several still live in the Kinoulton area outside of Nottingham England].
As far as I know, Keith does not use email, but perhaps I will write to him again and ask...
