Does anyone know if there is any relationship between the two families of Oxby's in Lincolnshire? William and Ann are in Wellingore and John and Susanna had children in Branston. John is from Harmston.

There was also a family of Oxbys in Aubourn, Lincolnshire, going back to about 1745. The first names I have are Thomas Oxby who married Elizabeth Glasier on 12 June 1769

I had a little correspondence with a member of your Skipworth family about 25 years ago. If you care to send me details of your tree I will see if there are any extras or background details I can offer.

Surnames: Oxby, Priestley
Hi,

I've run into the marriage of John Priestley to Mary Oxby in Navenby, Lincs. in 1821. I've followed John and Mary living in the 1841, 1851, 1861 and 1861 censuses. Mary is shown as born about 1794 in Wellingore, Lincs, while John Priestley was from Little Hanworth or Potter Hanworth. John and Mary's sons Edward (born ca. 1823), William (born ca. 1829) and Joseph Priestley (born ca. 1832) all immigrated to the USA and settled in Linn County, Kansas, near the town of Trading Post, Kansas -- all three were enumerated in the 1865 Kansas State Census.

Would you know the parents of this Mary Oxby?

Thank you.

Good Day

A likely candidate for father of Mary Oxby 1793 seems to be Thomas Oxby b 1754 Wellingore. He married Ann Johnson in 1779 at New Sleaford.

My Family Tree Maker file traces Mary Oxby back further to Thomas Oxby b 1668 Canwick.

If anyone would like to swap info on descendants of Thomas 1668 (which include me) I am buddarian@hotmail.co.uk

Surnames: Oxby and Rook
I have one Oxby in my family tree. Her name was Catherine Oxby and she married a Robert Rook. She was born and died in Branston, Lincolnshire. You mentioned the place names of Branston, Washingborough, Heighington and Canwick. I have ancestors in all of those places. This came about from women marrying into the Rook family. Hope to find someone to trade info with. I fell in love with the Lincolnshire area after a holiday there last October. I believe that I found at least 5 generations throughout the area. Looking to "meet" at few more Oxby's to fill out my tree. :)
