From the little bits of research I have done to date, it seems that all the Oxbys originated in Lincolnshire, and were probably descendants of the Vikings [maybe from Denmark--there is a place named Oksby on the coast]. It does not seem that Luke Oxby is part of our family line, at least not from the year 1800. My Oxby family is believed to have arrived in Ontario in the 1850's, and the rest of the family is still living in England, in a village named Kinoulton, outside of Nottingham. One of the members lives on the original Pear Tree Farm from which two Oxby brothers, Robert and Charles came to Canada. Robert was my great-great-grandfather. I have a printout about Luke Oxby [m. to Bridget Day]. I hope you can access it at
www.rootsweb.com/~onwellin/pioneers/oxby_luke.htmIt is late now, but I will look up Cathy's name etc. [may be Paulsen]. She tells me that my great-grandmother and hers were sisters [surname Kett before marriage]
