John Ovak probably was born in Ashtabula, Ohio. He was a brother to my father Joseph John Ovak born 1910 died 1958. As far as i can remember my grandparents were John and Mary. I remember Grace. She lived around the Hamilton, Derby N.Y. area. I spent time one summer with her daughter Margie? who was married to a police man I think. I may be confused here a little because there was a John who was in the Navy stationed in Alaska. He was brother to Margie and Clayton.
Any how I am an Ovak by birth.

Joan,

My name is Lynda Ovak-Elam, John Ovak was my father who has passed. You are correct. My grandmother Grace lived in Derby New York. Aunt Marge still lives in Derby and her number is 716-947-4178. My Uncle Clayton lives in Angola and his number is 716-549-4792. Aunt Marge was married to a police captian and his name is William Joyce. Let me know how you are connected to the Ovak's. I have had contact with Ida Miller and I am still trying to get information on the Ovak Line. I do know that my grandfather John drowned in lake Erie.

Regards,
Lynda

Surnames: Ovak
Hi Linda:
So glad to hear from family. My father was Joe Ovak. Born July 31, 1910. In Ashtabula, Ohio. He was the youngest chlid Of John and Mary. I am not sure of how many children there were. I know of Toby, Steve, John, Elizabeth. My family was not really close to the rest and after my father died in 1958 we never saw them, except Clayton and Maureen in Derby. I haven't seen any of them since 1960 but my Mother visited often and keeps in touch with them. I live in Illinois and my family lives in Ohio. I will try to get more information when I can. Please let me know more about you as this is very interesting. I just play on my computer and tried the Ancestry.com, just for the fun of it. Love to you and your family Joan Ovak Gosmer

I'm also an Ovak, from Ashtabula originally. I have an obituary for a John Ovak who drowned there. I do believe that he is my grandfather, Steve's brother, but I'm not certain. Any "Ovak" info is greatly appreciated!
