I am also related to Peter Ouderkirk, not sure what if any connection to the Peter Ouderkirks I have been reading about on this site. My ancestor was a soldier in the American Revolution.(dates here don't seem to fit with that fact) I am a first generation American as the Ouderkirks in my branch emigrated to Canada. My father was born in Berwick, Ontario and came to the US in 1926-7. My Grandfather Simon was also born in Canada. Any info will be appreciated.

If you didn`t know there is an Ouderkirk Family Society located in Georgia and they have their own website. There is also a book written about family history of the Ouderkirks available thru library. Don

If you had more information on Peter Ouderkirk, I might be able to help you find out more.
If you father was born in Berwick, then his family did not emigrate right to Canada. They came to the US and emigrated to Canada from there.
My father was born in Berwick as well, and my grandmother still lives there. (heck, I'm related to half the town).
Let me know his name, and I will see what I can find out. If his parents are buried in Berwick, I could probably get you a picture of the tombstone.

Hi

I am also researching the Ouderkirk families. My Grandfather was Robert Ouderkirk born 1885 in Dundas,Ontario,Canada. His Father was Peter Isaiah Ouderkirk born 1860 in Ontario, his Mother was Emeline Bookout born 1862 in Berwick, Ontario. I have a listing of a Simon Eli Ouderkirk born Dec.09,1827,Williamsburg Twp.Dundas,Ontario died April 17,1912 Winchester Twp, Dundas.

I grew up in Finch, 3 miles south of Berwick. There are a lot of Ouderkirks in that region. I can ask my folks if they know a Simon but what was your Dad's name? I am looking for descendants of a Saxon Ouderkirk myself, also a re-immigrant to the US.

The Ouderkirk Family Genealogy, by H. John and Raymond D. Ouderkirk; shows a Saxon, son of Thomas R. and Margaret Jane Meldrum. Thomas R. was son of George Arthur Ouderkirk (1862 Finch, Ont - 1945 Berwick, Ont) and Jane Eliza Servage (1866-1942, Berwick). Saxon has a brother Arther Douglas 1919-1 Dec 1924, and a sister Marion. George Arthur Ouderkirk parents were John Henry (25 Feb 1837, Berwick, NY (???) - 18 Feb 1911; m 1861) and Mary Ann Price (1842-1900, Berwick, Ont). John Henry's father was Nicholas and mother Mary Grey. There is much more. Berwick, NY to Berwick, Ont is confusing?
