My grandmother was Laura Awilda Oubre Brooks and she was from Morganza LA. She was born in 1900 and died in 1994. We still have many relatives who live in Morganza but I haven't kept up with them like I should have.

(Her maiden name was Oubre and she was the youngest of many children - had a sister names Nan and the rest I am not sure about).

Looking for people related to Gilbert Oubre Sr. He was married to Blanche Blanchard of New Orleans, and had Elizabeth, Clara Belle (my Mema), Gilbert Jr., Bernice, and maybe a few others (I cant remember off the top of my head).....He left his family when my grandmother was a child, causing my mother to not know him and she is wanting to know about him now. I have been able to find his ww2 draft card showing he lived in matthew, la in 1942 but that's where it stops.....

I have this information from another person, Curtis Oubre, who was also my teacher. Perhaps you could help me to find the link from August Oubre 1850 to the Jacob Huber line?
We are from the New Iberia St. Martinville, Loreauville area.

I have an Auguste Oubre(or Augustin Oubre),son of Onezime Oubre(1804-1843) and Josephine Bernard. He was born Aug. 14, 1835 in St. James Parish and died Aug. 14, 1896 in Loreauville, Iberia Parish. He married Anne Eloide Comeaux Feb, 10, 1862 in New Iberia Church, Iberia Parish, LA. I have them with 14 children, 4 of which were sons.

Onezime Oubre's parents were Pierre(I)Oubre(1772-1829) and Felicite Pertuit(abt 1777- 1837). Pierre(I)Oubre's parents were Andre(I)Oubre(abt 1733-abt 1805) and Marie Elizabeth Bonvillain(abt 1732-abt 1815). Andre(I)Oubre's parents were Johan Christof(or Christopher) Oubre(Huber) and Anna Barbara Reusch. Christof or Christopher's parents were Jacob Huber and Anna Barbara Schaf.

Is this your line?

I am not closely related to your Gilbert Oubre, Sr., but I did find his obituary in the Times-Picayune from 1949. He died in Mathews, LA, on Dec. 2, 1949 and was buried in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Edgard, LA. It listed his wife Blanch and his children. If you send me an email at dosoreb@bellsouth.net, we can communicate further and I may be able to provide you with the obituary and other Oubre information.
