I have sad news my Uncle Loren Ouart died, Saturday May 12, 2007 in Port Gibson, Mississippi.
KEWANEE — Loren L. Ouart, 63, of Port Gibson, Miss., formerly of Kewanee, died Saturday, May 12, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 17, at Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee. Rev. Dan Wright will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Burial will be at the Church of Peace Cemetery in rural Kewanee.
Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born May 7, 1944, in Kewanee, the son of Elmer and Marjorie (Layman) Ouart. He married Nancy Leonard in 1966 at the Fairview Church, Annawan. She survives as well as two sons, John (Diane) Ouart of Cedar Springs, Mich., and David (Jacquelyn) Ouart, of Dover, Pa., one sister, Linda (E.W.) Adam, of Derwood, Md., and five grandchildren, Kevin, 17, Jenifer, 16, Jeremy, 8, Julia, 6, and Jessica, 3. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He graduated from Kewanee High School in 1962 and served in the Air Force. Along with his wife, they owned and operated the Bernheimer House, a bed and breakfast, in Port Gibson.
He was a past member of the Church of Peace, was past president of the Mendota School Board, past president of the Bed & Breakfast Association of Mississippi, was a Mississippi Certified Tourism Professional and special events coordinator of Vicksburg Association Marketing Professionals (VAMP). He spearheaded Discover Historic Port Gibson and his passion was promoting tourism in Mississippi.
His hobbies included hunting and being a handyman.
