I was just wondering who you dad is? My grandfather was Matthew Otradovec and he lived in the Wilson area of Michigan. My father was borne in Escanaba also and still lives inthe area.

Another friend and I have done some work in the Czech Republic/Bohemia archives, whihc are partially online. We feel that we are now on the right track because one of Joseph's daughters died and her death certificate lists Joseph's place of birth as Damenice, Tabor, Bohemia. I have hired a group called Pathfinders to go to the archives and find his birth record there. It seems that all of the Otradovec family came from Otradov but my ancestors must have moved to Tabor. We'll see if they find the birth record. I sure hope so!

In fact it is not true:-) All of us Otradovec are ealative. We comes from one village Otradov in Bohemia(Czech Republic).)))))

My great grandfather was Joseph Otradovec from Behemia. He immigrated to Wisconsin with his second wife (first wife had died) and his children. He settled in Carlton, Kewaunee, Wisconsin about 1867. My grandmother, Joseph's daughter, was Antonie Otradovec, who was born in Bohemia. I am very interested on other Otradovec family members. One older family member seems to remember that the family may have come from "Demilus" amd she isn't sure how to spell it. I probably have it wrong. If you think we may be related, I'd be interested in communicating with you.

My grandfather was Thomas Otradovec, who was the brother of James Otradovec. They family appears in many of the census. I believe the brother who left Baltimore was Frank.

My name is John Otradovec My father was James Otradovec he had 6 brothers all but one stayed in the Baltimore area and they have all passed on.The girl passed on from a drowning accident in Baltimore, her mother passed on the following year

Where did you find the history of the Otradovec name? My great great grandfather was Joseph Otradovec who immigrated here with his second wife and children. I don't think any of them moved to Maryland. Do you have any connection to Kewaunee, WI?

Joseph Otradovec was my great grandfather, who immigrated here with his second wife and children. They always lived in Kewaunne, WI. Unless your Otradovecs came from Kewaunee, we are not related.

My great great grandfather was Joseph Otradovec, who immigrated here with his second wife and children, including Joseph, Antonie, John, etc. I would be happy to communicate with you. I made a trip to Kewaunee, WI this summer, where they all lived to do genealogy research and found many things. I am adding new information as I find time to do it. Grandfather is James from Czech along with 6 brothers & 1 sister...Dad is John & I am Andrea...also have 1/2 sisters Shannon & Denise.

James landed in MD after a brief stay in RI. That's where dad. uncle Jim & I were born ... also the two 1/2 sisters.

I am Andrea. My dad is John, his dad James who came from Czech to this country as a boy. His 6 brothers & 1 sister came over at the same time as their parents according to a 1910 census.

Hey Denise....I am Andrea with a sister also named Denise. Our dad is John Knowles Otradovec...his dad's (Pop)family is from Austria/Czech border...we are trying to piece together a family tree.

Our other sister Shannon has found a 1910 census that shows Pop's family coming here from Austria. He had 6 brothers & 1 sister.

Thank you for sharing the census. My grandfather is listed on there. James Otradovec born in 1897. So that would make my grandfather and your grandfather brothers. Which one of the brothers was your grandfather?

My Grandfather was James Otradovec, born in the late 1890's?, he had 2 sons John and James Jr. I am looking for any history on the family that I can find for my Dad, John Otradovec who was born in 1932. My great grandfather was James Otradovec, wife was Mary, he was a musician and traveled around the US His children were born in Chicago, Baltimore and Rhode Island. My Grandfather was one of 8 children 7 boys and 1 girl. The girl died at the age of 16 and all but one of the boys stayed in the Baltimore area. The brother Frank left the area and I am uncertain as to where he went, although I have heard it was California. Not sure if he had any children who may have moved to Washington State. Ihave copied the 1910 census info on my family for your information.

Again, the are tree branches of otradovec family. Czech, Americans (- origin from Wisconsin from 1798)and Moravian from 1842. But the main origin of the name Otradovec is from Bohemia - Czech republic from small liberal village comd Otradov near Kamberk in central Bohemia. The origin is from 1465. When the Czech king Ladislav cold Pohrobek gave this village to Mathia I. de Otradova.

My last name is Otradovec, and my dad was also born in Escanaba, Michigan!! My ancestry from his side is thought to be bohemian, czech, french, and french-canadian.

In menominee county in wisconsin there is a few native americans with the last name Otradovec also.

My great grandmother was Antonie Otradovec, born in 1854 in Prague, Bohemia. Her father was Joseph Otradovec, born about 1828 (plus or minus a few years). Joseph had about 9 children, named Antonie, Joseph, Anna, Josepha, Franzisca, Johan, Emilia, Wenzl, and Barbora. They lived in Kewaunee, WI. Growing up I learned that some Otradovecs moved to Las Vegas and changed their name to Otrad or Otrado. Are any of you out there? I have no idea what year the move was but it was before the 60's.

Shannon, My name is also John and fathers
name was John. He migrated (in 1920/30s,
I think) to near Bolivar Missouri with his
Mother, dad and several brothers and sisters
, all of whom since passed away. Most of them are
buried in St. Wenceslaus Cemetary at what once
Karlin, Mo. It is located about 4 miles So. of
Bolivar, Mo. There is quite a large clan, all them
related to me one way or another, of Otradovec's
scattered all over Mo. with most of them near or around Bolivar
and Sprinfield, Mo.

I am also from Maryland. My grandfather was Thomas Otradovec and I suspect that your father (James?) was his brother. It appears that the family bible was last known to be at his Brother Georges (who has since deceased) but seems to have disappeared. Sure would love to have had a copy of that . The Otradovec that I am related to would be my great-grandfather (james also) he came to the state in the late 1800's. Was a musician who taught at Peabody institute after traveling around the US a little. I know that one son was born in Chicago and two in Rhode Island. Does any of this sound familiar to you. I currently live in Maine in the summer and Florida in the winter. So was happy to find this research outlet. James (the oldest) is buried aat Bohemian National Cemetery, in Baltimore City.

My grandfather's name was Thomas Otradovec, he was born in Rhode Island and died in 1975 in Maryland. HIs father's name was James Otradovec and he came here from Bohemia. James had several sons, Frank, George, James, Edward, Thomas and one daughter Augusta, who died at the age of 16 in 1903. Am curious if this might be a relative of your.

the name Otradovec origin from small village near Mlada Vožice in Czech republic. I was found it. My family tree begin there. There was o lot of people with name Otradovec. They was a people who are libertini. They live in Otradov too long, may be 1650.If you wantedto know more I will set me.

My Wife's Name = Ottradovetz (Germany).
It was changed (Otradovec ??) during the Escape in the War 14-18.
Normaly Her Grand-Parents lived on the Boarder Hungary-Austria. But I didn't find very much.

I am trying to track the Otradavec branch of my family. My great grandmother, Antonie (Antonia) Otradavec, immigrated from Prague around 1870 and settled in Franklin, Wisconsin (we think). She was born in 1854 and married Andrew Lohn. in 1889. Her father was Joseph Otradavec and I do not have his birth date. Does any of this sound like your family? Hope to hear from you. I'm originally from Maryland, that's where I was born and raised until I was 18. Then I got married and moved around a lot because my husband is in the military. Right now we are stationed at Fort Hood, TX. We have 3 children, ages 1,2, and 6 and we're coming up on our 8yr. wedding anniversary.
