Nona V. Osborne, 89, of 815 Newland Ave., Jamestown.
passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at home. She was born June 30, 1925 in Rochester, NY a daughter of the late Theodore and Doris Johnson Vimmerstedt. A lifelong area resident, she graduated from Jamestown High School in 1943 and was also a graduate of SUNY at Albany.
Nona was a teacher at Jamestown Business College, Clymer, Mayville, and Panama schools. She was a home teacher for the Jamestown Public Schools and in earlier years was also a secretary for the Jamestown Expos. She was a member of the Zion Covenant Church. She was on the Board of the Christmas Friendship Fund and was a member of the League of Women Voters. She loved her family deeply. She enjoyed bowling and playing solitaire. Nona is survived by a daughter, Christine (James) Schnars, two sons; Theodore W. (Ada) Osborne and Andrew J. Osborne; six grandchildren: James Schnars, Kelly (Jon) Pittorf, Bonnie Schnars, John (Michele) Schnars, Alex and Erika Osborne; seven great grandchildren: Emma, Genevieve, Violet, William, John Jr., Margaret, and Hadley; a brother, John (Mary) Vimmerstedt; and a sister, Judy (John) Morrell. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer "Bud" Osborne, whom she married June 16, 1947 and who died April 1, 1978. The funeral was held Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Rick Miller will officiated. Burial was in Lake View Cemetery Friends were be received from Sunday in the funeral home.
