I know this post is kinda late but I am looking into the history of my family and my Maiden name is Orth. My Dad and his family are from St. Paul Minnesota/Minnetonka, Minneapolis. His name is James and his father’s name is William “Bill” Orth. It caught my attention when you said nuns because they are very faithful to the church-no nuns that I know of though.

I have an Orth family recorded in the 1880 Census at Magnolia Rock, Minnesota. John Orth's parents were from France. I believe he married Susan Biersdorf in France before going to the U.S. The family members were:
