Her last name could be Oriel, Orrell, Orrells, Orriell or Orrill. The family didn't seem to know how to spell it. Although one member always spelled it Oriel. Her name was Frances Oriel Pitman.

I am looking for a possible Mary or Polly Oriel that married a McCain around 1740 maybe in NC or just moved there later. Their kids would be Susannah, Elizabeth & Thomas.

I think that there is an Orrell in my family because for a few generations they used it as a first and middle name.

McCain could be spelled:

McCane
McKain
McKaine
McKane
McCahan
McKahan
McCean
McKean
McCeen
McKeen
or any of those without the Mc.
