I'm so curious to know what happened to James and Willie, the only information that i have is that after James's wife Sarah died according to the death certificate that i have she died of alcoholic poisoning in 1900, he then along with Willie his youngest son immigrated to Connecticutt to join his family who were already out there.

I happened to notice this as I was doing inquiry on my grandfather. My grandfather was William Oram. I believe the "Willie" you refer to. His grandfather was James. His grandfather brought him up as his son as his daughter became pregnant by someone from the US that was stationed in the area. James was an upholsterer. And yes after Sarah died they, James and Willie came to the US. They were in Stratford, CT. I have a 1910 US census showing James to be 62 and William age 21.

Hi Joan so pleased to hear from you it looks like we have a connection, Ive tried for years and years to trace this side of my family and posted messages on various sites but heard nothing back.,
I did hear from a Vicky Gillespie a couple of times who said she could give me information but heard nothing back when I replied ( maybe she is a relative of yours).
I didn't realise that Willie was not James's son,. so who in the family was his mother? of course back in them days things like that were not discussed, but would love to hear more it sounds so interesting.
I can't wait to hear from you again if you would like to e-mail me with any information you have and would like to pass onto me I would really appreciate it, and likewise anything I can help you with::
syl.murphy1@virginmedia.com is my e-mail address.

Vicki,
My grandfather was William Oram and he was brought up by his grandfather James Oram who came here after his wife Sarah died. They came with or to be with James' other children one being John Oram and James was an upholsterer and John and Willie were gardeners for FE Conine Nursery in Stratford, Ct

My grandfather William or Willie died in 1977 in Derby, CT. His son James had been taking care of him shortly before his death.

I remember my mom Ella Agnes Oram Jagetz talking of family with the last name of Slack, Coggins and Gillespy. My mother also had a sister Elizabeth.
