Seated in front are: Robert and Anna: Second row is Arthur B., John, John Wesley, Mary and Emma G. I am unable to identify the two young ladies standing in the rear. Mary is quite easy to distinguish from photos if you look closely at her mouth, as it turns down at the sides.

Thank you for posting these photos! I am a great granddaughter of John Wesley Orahood and Mary Bilderback. Robert Orahood and Laura Taylor were my grandparents. I have not seen many pictures of this side of my family.

Would you please post the handwritten info on the back of John and Mary's photo?

Thank you,
Carol Orahood Brzezicki

Carol,

Below is the handwritten info found on the back of the photo of John Wesley and Mary. I am copying this verbatim, and I have found where it differs a little from some info I have seen posted:

JW Orahood Born May 1827 Death July 22, 1908 Age 81
Mary Orahood - Mary Builderback
Born ? 1837 Married 1855
Died - Wed PM 10:30 12-13-1905 - Age 68

Children Birthday
Thomas Dec 8, 1855
James Sep 11, 1858
Emma Sep 16, 1860
John Sep 12 1863
Arthur Jun 6, 1866
Robert Oct 6, 1869
Anna Jul 27, 1871
Homer Nov 11, 1873

That is the handwritten part in it's entirety.

I must explain that I am not truly a descendant of John Wesley and Mary. Their grandson, Arthur Dennis, who was the son of Emma G. Orahood, married my grandmother when he was 85 years old. Though Arthur was not blood-kin, he was very much a part of our family. When my grandmother passed, I ended up with most of her photos and notes, as I have been big into my genealogy for years. Among her belongings were a couple of envelopes which contained Arthur's photos. My research on this line only commenced on 26 Dec 2007, so I am just starting, but felt it was important to get these photos out. I extend to you, and anyone reading this note the same offer. If you will send your name and email address to me at swelland@prodigy.net, I will happily send an invitation from my Ancestry.com site to give you access to all of the other photos and to my research. Again, I am not kin, but I could only imagine how wonderful it would be to stumble upon a site with photos of my great-grandparents.

Happy Hunting!

Scotty

Mary's parents are William H. Bilderback and Frances Bagby. In 1860 Mary and her children were enumerated with her parents in Schuyler County, Illinois. That same year she was also enumerated with her husband in Linn County, Kansas.

I have seen a great deal of genealogy information on my Bagby line, but have yet to be able to prove (with documented evidence) anything beyond the Robert Bagby listed below:

Robert Bagby, b. April 05, 1779 in Virginia, m. July 24, 1797 in Mason County, Kentucky to Frances.

His children were born in Lewis County, Kentucky:

Willis Bagby
Robert Bagby m. Rebecca\\Campbell\\ August 02, 1838 in Fleming County, Kentucky
Lewis Bagby
Nancy Bagby
* William Bagby m. Eliza Waring November 29, 1838 in Northeast Township, Adams Co., Illinois
John Bagby
Mary Bagby
Frances Bagby

* my line

I have received undocumented information that Robert's parents were:

William Bagby b May 01, 1750 d. June 1806 m. May 01, 1770 in Hanover, Virginia Drusilla Simms b. Abt. 1750 d. March 01, 1786

I really would appreciate some assistance from y'all. I hope some of you can head me in the right direction on where to find some documention to continue my research on this line.

Best regards,
Clarence Burton Bagby

Looking for information on Jonas Harr, one of the first settlers in Lewis Co. He settled in Foreman's Bottom with Robert Bagby. Jonas married Flora Bagby. Jonas had two daughter-in-laws named Thomasine Richards (married Foreman Harr) and Mary Richards (married Joshua Harr). Jonas's children were born early 1800s. Also looking for Jonas' son Thomas Harr who married Nancy Gregory. Thomas was born in 1822. Any informtion on these four families is appreciated.

BAGBY GRAVEYARD
1. The following is from Dan Dunham.
Based on correspondence with Dr. Talley in July of 2002, he writes the following regarding the Bagby Graveyard:
BAGBY GRAVEYARD
Beside a shed across the road from the old Ort farm between Quincy and St. Paul, Lewis County. All stones have fallen down and some are broken. There are probably many more stones here buried in the soil. Copied June 28, 1955 by William M. Talley and Howard Moore.
Bagby, Willis, died May 7, 1849, in his 47th year.
Bagby, Mary, wife of Willis Bagby, died July 10, 1849, aged 47 years, 16 days
Bagby, J. L., died Sept. 13, 1850, aged 25 years and 8 mos.
Bagby, Meca Jane, consort of Robert Bagby, died Apr. 17, 1837 in hir 21 year. Also Lewis Marshel [stone broken and pieces missing].
Bagby, Robert, died 1827, in his 45th year.
McAlister, Matthew, son of John and C. S. McAlister, died June 19, 1849, aged 18 days
Stow-- (Scott?), Daniel B., died Aug. 8, 1841, aged [very badly broken]
In another graveyard on the Bagby farm: Bagby, Adda M., dau. of J. T. and M. F. Bagby, born Sept. 3, 1864, died Jan. 21, 1866
[Note: The stone of Robert Bagby Sr. was found by James Vance in the summer of 1971 lying on the bank of the Ohio River opposite this farm.]
All of these individuals were part of the Robert Bagby, Sr. family of Lewis County, Kentucky who owned the farm.
Willis Bagby was the eldest son of eight children of Robert, Sr. and his wife Fanny.
Mary Bagby, his wife was Mary Thompson Bagby, daughter of John Thompson.
J.L. Bagby, was Jessie L. Bagby, eldest son of Willis and Mary Thompson Bagby. He married Lucy Frances Leach, February 15, 1847 and had one child, Mary Ellen Bagby.
Meca Jane, appears to have been the wife of Robert Bagby, Jr. (brother of Willis and fourth child of Robert, Sr. and Fanny) and to have had two (2) children with him prior to her death – John H. Bagby and Frances J. Bagby. Robert, Jr. 2nd married Rebecca Jane Campbell.
Lewis Marshel, believed to be son of William Marshall and Fanny (unknown) Bagby Marshall (remarried widow of Robert Bagby, Sr.)
Robert Bagby, Sr. will written Oct 21, 1827, proved Apr 21 1828.
Matthew McAlister, son of John and Catherine S. Bagby McAlister. Catherine S. Bagby McAlister was the second child of Willis and Mary Thompson Bagby – sister to Jessie L. Bagby.
Stow – (Scott?), Daniel B. – perhaps the son of John T. Scott and Mary E. Bagby Scott. Mary Bagby Scott was the youngest child of Robert, Sr. and his wife Fanny.
Adda M. Bagby, dau. Of J. T. and M. F. Bagby was the first child of James Thompson Bagby and his wife Mary Elizabeth Spragg. James Thompson Bagby was the fifth child of Willis and Mary Thompson Bagby.
James Thompson and Mary Elizabeth Spragg had six more children, one of whom, R.M. Bagby (Robert Middleton Bagby) was elected Senator from the 32nd District in Carter County, November 4, 1941.
