O'Quinn / O'Quin

I am interested to know if anyone has new information on the O'Quinn/O'Quin families from Colleton County. I am particularly interested to find out if anyone has been able to identify the father of Tarler/Tyler, Hardy, Edward and Joseph. Also, for those interested in the possibilities of digging a little deeper - Y33 DNA results are available on a direct descendant of Joseph O'Quin.

Looking up My Family Tree info, I show Tyler O'Quinn was my Great-Great-Great Grandfather. He was born in 1814 in Colleton District to Parents Silas O'Quinn (born 24 July 1789 in Samson County NC) and his wife, Ann Nancy Crummy (born 3 July 1789 in Barnwell District, SC).

I show that they were married in 1749 in Colleton District and had 7 Children:

PETER O'QUINN, b. C1812 in SC
TYLER O'QUINN, b. C1814 in COLLETON DISTRICT, SC
STEPHEN O'QUINN, b. 08 JAN 1814 in SC
HARDY O'QUINN, b. MAR 1816 in BARNWELL DISTRICT, SC
SILAS ATKINSON O'QUINN, b. 14 MAR 1827 in SC
ELIZABETH O'QUINN, b. 1828 in SC
CHARLES EDWARD ABSOLOMO'QUINN, b. 1833 in COLLETON DISTRICT, SC

Hi Funboy1227a,

Thanks for the reply. I have a good bit of information on Tyler/Tarler O'Quinn. I also have other information, some of which conflicts with what you have. It would be great if you could email me at shamrockroots@gmail.com so we can exchange information.

I like the idea of the DNA. It is a good thing to find out definately the true line. I have however, noticed something that seems to be very hereditary in the O'Quin(n) line. Most of the pictures of O'Quinn"s that I have seen they all seem to have a dimple in their chin. It is quite noticable. Lou O'Quin used to post on here. He has a website named O'Quin Zone I believe. If you can find it check out the pics of the O'Quinn's and notice the chin. I have this dimple and passed it on to both my children. I got it from my father and if I remember correctly my grandmother on my dad's side had it. She was an O'Quin.

We are related if this be the case...Silas and Nancy are my GG grandmother's grandparents.

I have a public tree that you can look through but would also love to share information with you or anyone in this family line.

Thanks,

Stacey Moser
