Does anyone know Polish? I've got some letters back recently from Poland, but unfortuneately, I can't read 'em.

Hi Brian. My name is Dan Opalach (a 47-year-old timberguy). I discovered this message board earlier today and, wow, what a great find! My father's name was Walter Stanley Opalach. He was born in New Jersey in 1928. His father (my grandfather) was Felix Opalach. I have one brother, Walter Opalach, Jr., and one sister, Cynthia Opalach (who married a great guy and now goes by the name of Cynthia Styles).

Hello from California! My name is Dan Opalach. My father was Walter Stanley Opalach. He was born in 1928 in Bayonne, NJ. Felix Opalach was his father. My dad died at the early age of 48 (in 1977).

My family moved to California in 1965. I'm still here and I work in the timber industry. My brother, Walter Opalach Jr., lives in Arkansas and my sister, Cynthia Opalach, lives in Florida. She's married and now and changed her last name to Styles.

Hi Dan, isn't the internet wonderful?
I'm currently in Delaware visiting my family, but all of my genealogy research is in Sardinia, where I'm stationed. I had some questions about Felix, though. He's (so far) the only Opalach listed on the Immigrants Wall of Honor on Ellis Island. It's been so long since I've done any research on this, it's no longer fresh in my memory. But when I get back later this month, I'll drop you a line. Brian (btopalach@netscape.com)

I recently received some information that Felix Opalach, born in Sierakow, Plock, Poland on December 20th 1888, was a twin brother of Frank Opalach. I think they may not have been twin brothers, but they may have been brothers. Felix settled in Wheeling, WV, with his wife Victoria Franczykiewicz and had Catherine, John, Paul and Peter. There was a Stanley Opalach at this time, too. Later, Felix moved to Bayonne, NJ and had Walter, Anthony, Lillian and Joseph. He may have worked for a relative (Paul ?) who owned a bakery. My great grandfather Joseph Opalach (1876-1948) was Frank's (1888-1955) brother. I never heard that there was another brother, but it would be interesting if Felix was Frank and Joseph's brother. All were born in Sierakow, Poland. According to Felix's WWI draft registration was Dec 20, 1888. According to Frank's Naturalization papers, Frank's birthday was 28, Jan 1888.

According to the 1920 census, Frank had a three year old son named Felix, though there is no record of him after that.

If you have any info about a relationship between Felix, Frank and Joseph, please let me know. According to Joseph's Social Security Application, his parents were named John Opalach and Ludwika Kuchczynska.
