      <description>NICHOLS, Iowa - Bernard LeRoy Oostendorp, 90, a lifelong resident of Nichols, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Burial will be in the Nichols Cemetery. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Mr. Oostendorp was born Oct. 24, 1916, in Nichols, the son of William and Lola Metcalf Oostendorp. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He married Margaret Fox Nov. 30, 1939. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He operated Bernie's Tavern for 27 years and Bernie's Farm Supply with his son for 10 years.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He was a member of the Nichols Fire Department and a lifelong member of the Moose. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;In his earlier years, he played clarinet in a local band and also managed the Nichols men's baseball team. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He enjoyed his grandchildren, hunting, fishing and going out on a Saturday night for a good meal and dancing.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He is survived by his wife; three sons, Virgil Oostendorp and his wife, Diane, of Hinsdale, Ill., Bob Oostendorp of Iowa City and Ron Oostendorp and his wife, Ellen, of Nichols; five grandchildren, Michael Oostendorp, John Oostendorp, Kristin Jung, Heather Hester and Kimberly O'Hare; and 14 great-grandchildren. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He was preceded by his parents; and three sisters, Margaret Lindle, twin sister, Beaulah Yakish Stych and Madelyn Ridenour.&lt;br&gt;================&lt;br&gt;MESA, Arizona - Robert Oostendorp, 82, passed away on May 3, 2009, at home with his wife and children at his side. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;No services are planned at his request. Memorials may be made to charity of your choice in his name.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He has resided at 3945 East Alder Avenue, Mesa, AZ 85206 since 1994.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Robert was born on December 26, 1926, in Nichols, the son of Benjamin and Hazel Mills Oostendorp. He married Ruth Madson in 1953, and they and their daughters moved to Arizona in 1959.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He is survived by his wife, Ruth Oostendorp; two daughters, Debi and Teri Oostendorp; sister, Mary Hanft of Nichols; and mother-in-law, Louise Madson.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Veryl and Charles Oostendorp; and his father-in-law, Don Madson.</description>
