Ooley/Wooley and Carpenter in Garrard Co. KY

In a 1992 map project of the Bicentenniel of Garrard County where Fred Simpson and others plotted all of the original land grants/purchases I find plotted lands of JOHN WOOLEY, PETER WOOLEY and HENRY WOOLEY. These are all sons of William and Barbara Wooley and brothers of Christopher (Chrisley) Wooley.

Just east of John and Peter's land is a notation "SOLOMON CARPENTERS CABIN". My question is who is this? I know that Christopher Wooley's son John married Martha CARPENTER, changed his name spelling to OOLEY and moved to Indiana. I know that Christopher's son Peter married Elizabeth CARPENTER and after his death Elizabeth Carpenter WOOLEY took care of her widowed mother-in-law, LIBBE [possibly Carpenter] WOOLEY.

Is is possible that Solomon Carpenter is also related to Libbe? WAS she a Carpenter? The research into the Carpenter family shows a Libbe that was the right age who lived in Botetourt County, VA (where the Wooleys were) and she had a brother named Solomon.......

What are anyone's thoughts on this??

It's all a mistery to me. The Wooley's had alot of Solomons', Moses and other Old Testment names. I come from Christopher's & Michael's bunch who settled in what is Taylor County, Ky today. There were Carpenter's here with them and were related. You seem to be very knowledgable concerning the Wooley's. Have we conversed before?
James
P.S. We still pronounce our name as Ooley but spell it Wooley.

Hello Jimmy and Norma,
I have had some correspondence with another researcher who says that Libbe was a HOGAN. Any thoughts about this from you? I suppose it is possible - Christopher Wooley's sister married Prosser Hogan but I will have to dig and see if he had a sister named Libbe/Elizabeth.

Hey Jimmy good to hear from you
Nothing really new with me either, I am now retired, and trying to work on the Mann's. They are just about as big a mess as the Ooley/Wooley. Have not discoved anything new on them either. Was able to trace youngest son of Thomas Wooley (Owley) & Alysa Mann to Arkansas. He was Last in 1900 census, living with his son, not found his marriage in Indiana nor wife's name. 2 children oldest son, Dan born 1860 in Indiana.

Send me you email address

from what I've found is that Libby (or elizabeth) her maiden name was Hogan. She did marry a Hogan which she changed her last name.

Where did you find her MAIDEN name as Hogan? Who were her parents? Did she have a brother named Prosser Hogan?
What do you mean by 'She did marry a Hogan which she changed her last name'? If she married a Hogan, than married Christopher Wooley, she must have been divorced or a widow. OR do you mean that she was born a Hogan, married a Hogan, then married Christopher Wooley?
I do know that Libbe did NOT remarry after Christopher Wooley died - I found records of her applying for and receiving support from the county (Or her daughter in law applied for it) up until about 1827 (pulling this from memory - don't remember what county it's in, but I do remember finding the information)
I'm sorry for all the questions - I am heading to Salt Lake City to do some research and would like to get some more concrete leads. Do you know where Libbe was born? I seem to remember the Hogans (Prosser's family) came from North Carolina, but I may be mistaken.
Thanks for any information you can supply.
