Hi Debra..Dale McKerlie here in Adelaide. Ive been trying to research our family and I am trying to fill some gaps. I think your father in law is Donald?? if this is so, then he is my grandfathers brother. My grandfather is is Harry Wilborforce (Bill) Mckerlie. I have a fair bit of info for you if you are interested. I have managed to trace our heritage back to a George McKerlie born in 1784 Scotland. Our heritages has been all mapped. The thing is, its your side of the family that I'm a bit stuck on. Do you want to communicate either by phone/email or what ever to catch up. My father knows of some of your brother in laws,(Barry McKerlie)he has spoken about them in the past. I'm pretty keen to catch up and fill the viod. Cheers Dale.

Have that Grover O'nan was the son of Robert Lee O'nan and Melissa Greenwell. Melissa was born 1875 and was the daughter of Alzie and jane Ireland Greenwell. Grover's siblings were Beatrice and Walter.
Grover was born 9/22/1890. Died 1/6/1954 and buried in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH on January 9, 1954. He married 10/20/1909 to Mrs. Annie Ettington, 30 years old (her third marriage). She was the daughter of David G and Elizabeth Payton of Scott County, KY.

thank you for your reply. it has been a long time since i posted this question. i did not think that i would hear anything in response and it would be just another forgotten genealogy querry on another messageboard? this sounds like the same grover onan since mary (his daughter)(?) was born in ohio(southeast). i suppose it is possible that grover as you said was born in 1890 and married in 1909,he being 19 and she being 30 on her 3rd marriage. possible he may have re-married to ida grayson before 1923 when mary was born? do you know how long he and the wife you described were married? she would have been 44 and he 33 then in 1923.ida grayson would have been about 10-12 years younger than grover. i have researched the onan name as being of french origin who came through new york state where they picked up a bit of dutch genealogy along the way when they married into a family of surdam`s(which are related to me- mary`s son`s wife- from the 1600`s,genealogy can hold many suprises)down through ohio and kentucky and on to michigan and etc. and the other of scottish origin. do you know of this? if you hear of any more info on grover onan please contact us through this messageboard? thank you for the help. appreciate it greatly! steve and teri abney

another coincidence is that you said grover onan was born september.22.1890. possible daughter mary was born on that same date in 1923. and her grandaughter(my husband`s daughter) was also born on that same date many years later!? interesting! don`t know if it means a thing in all reality but it seems to run in the family?
