Found a few facts re John Onan/Margaret Kellar Onan Family in Boone Co., MO.
Both John Onan and Margaret Kellar were born abt 1809 based upon census data found between 1850-1870. They moved to MO about 1848 and purchased government land in Boone Co. in 1851 and 1856.
John Onan was the son of Clempson Onan and Libby Lecompt based upon information obtained from a Texas relative. John and Margaret's daughter Sabina (b 1842 in KY) was named for John's elder sister Sabinia, (b. 1807 or 1808). In addition, the 1820 and 1830 census data in Henry County, KY shows children corresponding to the correct ages.
John and Margeret's daughter Asineth/Asenth married Andrew H. Elder in 1854, but by 1870 was married to John Brown (originally Braun) and living in Grayson Co., TX. John Brown was born in Baden, Germany. Living with them was Sarah Onan (b. 1851 in MO), spelled "Olenan". Grayson County TX was where Sarah Onan married Jasper Pittock and became my gggrandmother.
John and Asenth's daughter Barbara married Jonathan Tisington (b. England) and was living in Grayson Co. in 1880. Living with them was Acineth Brown and the remaining family. Acineth was listed as a widow.
Sabina Onan m. Nathaniel Harris and moved to Panola Co., TX by 1870.
Mallissa Onan and her husband William Whitworth remained in Boone Co., MO, and are found there in the 1880 census.
Have found Sarah Onan Pittock in 1910 and 1920 living with her daughter Barbara Carter/Carlton in Knox Co., TX (1910) and Hot Springs AR (1920). Barbara died in/about 1921, Sarah moved with her daughter Emily Pittock Sanderson and husband Morris in Endee, NM and died there in 1923.
