Catharin Olliver1885-1936

Hi. I have a Catharin Olliver married to Joseph H Robson in 1897. She had a Daughter named Myrna b 1875. I figure she married Joseph abt 1874. Does any body have a male Olliver that may have lived in Batavia, New York? Her parents were from France according to the 1900 census. Another possibility would be that Mr. Olliver is from somewhere else and when they divorced or he died Catharin came to Batavia to live. Any info on Myrna would be appreciated too. Thanks Sally

Sussex Ollivers - French Connection?

My father was a grandson of Albert Olliver who was born in 1845 in Angmering, Sussex, England. Before the first world war he (my father) and his sister were regularly taken to France to visit relatives. Somewhere along the line, but I've no idea where, an Olliver is said to have married a french lady. Can anyone help to solve the mystery please?

Olliver family

I know this is a long-shot - but I have been trying to trace ancestors on my dad's side. My grandad was married as William Charles Dunn (30) to Amelia Kate Rhodes (18)in Ngaruawahia in 1896. Their first son, William Charles was born in 1897. Now here is the mystery. The birth certificate says the husband is William Charles Dunn Olliver, and the mother is Amelia Kate Olliver. None of the other children born (there were 10) have this OLLIVER mentioned, except my father(number five in line) who had Olliver as his middle name.
Grandad's marriage certificate says he was born in Inverness, Scotland but my enquiries there have reached zilch! Even mentioning his parents name.
Methinks there is something very odd about that first birth. in 1897. I would really like to hear if you know af any relatives bearing the Dunn/Rhodes/McGulvin names.

Thanks-Brenda

Hello Andrea,
Its a long time since you posted your message. Did you ever hear from Jeff about Maria's ancestors?

I believe she was one of two daughter of John OLLIVER (1708 - 1793) and Ann TIDY. John was a son of Clement OLLIVER 1684 - 1757 and Margaret SWIFT.

John was quite famous around Goring/Ferring, known as "The Mad Miller" - I've actually travelled across the world and visited his famous grave.

One of John's brothers, Edward b 1721 who married Mary RICHARDSON is my ancestor.

Greetings Margaret,
I'd be very interested in the details you have about the family of Robert Bushby OLLIVER, his wife and children.
Although he is not my direct line he is connected to my line and I have been slowly collecting what I can find out about OLLIVERs in general and have quite a collection of odd bits of detail.
Robert's son Edwin's children would be of an age to appear in the 1841 census and probably others thereafter. I'd love to hear from you.

Robert Bushby OLLIVER's parents were, I believe, Edward OLLIVER (1751 - 1833) and Ann BUSHBY. They were married in 1781.

Their first son William OLLIVER b 1781 in Goring and his wife Henrietta HILLMAN b 1780 in Goring are my ancestors. I believe that Robert Bushby OLLIVER b. 1796 was E & A's 8th child. I do not have a detail about Robert's wife and only have one child, his son Edwin b 1829.
I'd be delighted to hear from peple hwo have authenticated research on the early generations of Edward OLLIVER and Ann BUSHBY.

Re: OLLIVER FAMILY

Florence Olliver is not on my family tree. However, I do know that there was a Florence Olliver born 14 Aug 1874 who was enrolled in Timaru Main School on 22 Jan 1883 and left there, headed for Dunedin, on 22 Apr 1883. Could this be the person you seek?
If you have a reasonable estimate of your Florence's marriage date or date of death and your ancestor's name I wouldn't mind looking in the marriage and/or the death records at the National Library in Wellington for you. You might like to email me direct jacknjan@xtra.co.nz
Best wishes from another Olliver researcher.

I know he married Mary Pennett and I have 4 children born to him. I am not sure if this info:is correct and I do not know his parents names. Also Edwin Oliver his first born(Ibelieve) born East Preston causes me a problem. As I keep finding him born in Hampshire. Can you help? It would really be appreciated. Margaret

I am doing research on all the Ollivers that came to New Zealand. Edward and Jane were married in Sydenham, Christchurch, NZ on the 17 Jun 1885. They had one daughter, Isabella, born in NZ on the 10 Sept 1886. I have a copy of Isabellas Birth Registration. They then moved to Australia. If you have any more information on this family I would be interested. You can email me at gailolliver@hotmail.com

Can anyone point me in the right direction for Leslie who was also known as Vic. He was a journalist (I think) and to the best of my knowledge he lived in Sussex, Kent and the Midlands (Wolverhampton, I think). Dead or Alive would be a start. If he is alive I think he would now be aged somewhere between late 80's and mid 90's. I think he had a son called Clive or Colin.
