Hi Carol,
Well the Ollenbittles never cease to surprise. So Gertrude/ Marie lived in Rayners Lane, Pinner, this is where I was born (in 1957). My parents had lived in the area (North Harrow/ Rayners Lane/ South Harrow) since the late 1930's. My mother (who I calculate to be Gertude's half first cousin - my mother's mother was Louise Eliza Ollenbittle, sister of Stephen's Grandfather Henry James Ollenbittle) never knew of her existance even though they could have passed each other in the street. It seems that my mother's parents were somewhat secerative about their forebears (probably for good reason) and my mother never knew of the existance of her Grandfather's "second family".
The next surprise is that I have discovered that Gertude/ Marie's mother Gertrude had Ollenbittle blood. She was in fact first cousin to her husband Henry James Ollenbittle (b. 1884). Gertrude senior was the daughter of Sarah Ollenbittle the sister of Henry James Ollenbittle (III).
For information the name Ollenbittle is an English version of Oldenbüttel, the name of Gertude/ Marie's 2x Great Grandfather Henry (Heinrich) Oldenbüttel who came to England about 1820.
Regards Max
