Hello Klaus,
I had discovered the village of Oldenbuettel before and in fact had some one look up the parish records there, but there was no one called Oldenbüttel/Ollenbittle, living there. It is likely that the family could have come originally from there, then moved and took the name of their old home as their name.
The Sandstedt connection is extreamly circumstantual. I found a possible connection for my ancestor on Genealogy.net genealogienetz.de (see link below)
http://www.online-ofb.de/famreport.php?ofb=vegesack&ID=1...This showed a Hinrich OLDENBüTTEL , born approx. at the right time, who seems to have disappeared from Germany, without being married or having a record of death as all his brothers do. There is no way to prove that this "Hinrich" is my "Henry" but it is a possibility.
Thanks for the offer of some research, I am not at the present able to take up this offer, but would like to retain a contact with you, so as to be able perhaps take this up at another time in the future.
Genealogienetz.de seems to give basic birth, marriage, death information for Hinrich and his immediate family, what I would really like to find is some link to my Henry in London, England, I am not sure that the parish records would provide this information.
Thank you Klaus for your information, finding information from Germany is rather difficult from the UK.
Regards - Max
