Hey guys!
Okay, please bear with me here. I am not an expert on this. I am trying (for the nth time) to trace back our "origins". My father was the one who really worked hard for this but unfortunately he passed away in 1994. I, being the youngest and the one closest to him promised to continue his mission and that is to find out where his ancestors are. He is of a Japanese-Filipino descent. He was born in 1942 and his father was a Japanese soldier during the war. Unfortunately, he never had the chance to grow up with his dad and his mother has lost contact with my grandfather too. You know how it feels like not knowing where you really came from? See my father was a successful man but there is this sadness within him that no one can ignore. Not knowing our roots makes us feel like aliens being thrown out here from outer space. I don't want to narrate my fathers life here. If there would be someone kind enough to help me here, please email me at
marimelbrummell@aim.com and I will reply asap! I am hoping someone out there could help me out. Maybe my father has some relatives out there. I believe the name of my grandfather is Takeo Okamoto. He came over to the Philippines to do some offshore operations. He was said to be a kempetai but I am not really sure about it. All I know is that he was also a businessman. He had a small business in the Philippines (Surigao City,Philippines) but left after WW II. I have read somewhere that kempetai's often pretend like someone else so to gather many informations as possible. He was only able to spend time with my father for about a year and I was told that he was a good father to my dad. How unfortunate of us not to have the chance pf meeting him huh!
Hope someone can help me here. I am pretty desperate about this but I never loose hope. There is always a raindbow after the storm as they say. I have tried to surf for all sites I can possibly think of but only got minimal results.
Lastly, I do not have any other intentions with this except to find out where we really came from. At least I am able to fill in that missing link in our lives.
Thanks a lot everyone! God bless!
Attached are some documents I keep. There are other documents too which my father was working on in around 1960's and I have it with me. A photo of my father is also attached as well as my photo. Sad to say but I do not have my grandfathers photo. My grandmother died and left some photos to her sister who raised my dad but then she lost them as she was moving from one place to another with my father.
