Living in Staten Island - researching Okamotos. Understand they were merchant class in Nagoya, Aichi-ken, Japan. Anyone with any information?

I would be interested if you could provide any information on researching there. I need to find records on my family - my Great-Grandparents and apparently my Grandmother's two sisters were in Hiroshima in 1945. Do you know if there are death records for the people who were killed in the initial strike or who died afterwards?
