Hello,

I'm a 4th generation Japanese Canadian. My mother's maiden name was Okamoto. Here's what I do know of our family, hope it helps out and maybe I could learn a little about my family as well....

Mother: Chieko Okamoto
Father : William (Waichiro) Enta (sometimes referred to as Shiota)

Both parents Canadian born. Both families were interned in WW2. Parents were raised in British Columbia, Canada moved eventually to Leamington, Ontario (internment camp).

Mother is Japanese Christian.
Father religion was Shinto/Buddist.

Regards,

Roger William Enta

Surnames: Tadajiro Maye
Dear Sir: I know that you posted your message several years ago, however I am hoping that you are still there. My mother, who is now 82, has asked me to search for ancestry of her father, Tadajiro Maye. He was born in Hiroshima, Japan Oct. 15, 1899. His father (and family) lived at 231 Odamura Takatagun, Hiroshima. My grandfather was one of the many Japanese to be sent to Tashmi camp in BC, my mother said he died of a broken heart. I have pictures of him, a suitcase he brought from Japan of woven wicker, and the postcards he sent from Hiroshima & Nagasaki on a visit to family over there in the early 1900s. We feel that we have possibly no relatives that survived the great destruction of WW2, but anything at all would be nice to know of my Great Grand Father and his family. I never knew him and my mother misses him greatly. Our most heartfelt thanks and deepest respect, we remain,
Akiko Maye Ryder
and daughter Christine

Hi I took a long shot and searched on Ancestry for 'female', born in 'Okinawa, Japan' bet '1950-1960'and entered my father's last name. The only result was 'Tore Okamoto'. She? was listed in a Honolulu, Hawaii Pass and Crew List (1900-1959). I came across some photos of my father (now deceased) and a little girl who looks a lot like me at her age (3-4?). They were in a photo book and contained a lot of pictures of my father and other Marines from the Reproduction section (no pun intended) probably connected to "Stars and Stripes". Any way I can ID Tore?
