Descended from Gustav Ojala
Do you know your family history? My grandfather was Gustav (Gustaf) Ojala. He arrived in Ashtabula, OH area about 1880 and had a family with Sofia. Sofia died and he remarried Maria Greta Lehtola. This was my grandmother. I want to find members of the family Sofia marriage. I visited Finland twice last year and have a lot of information on ancestors. I visited the church at Isokyro, near Vaasa, with a Finnish friend and visited my grandfather's and great grandfather's farms.

Johan may be related to my grandfather
I recently found my family ancestry through a trip to Finland. My grandfather, Gustav (Gustaf) Ojala had a brother named Johan, and my Great grandfather was Johan. I will look at all the documents I have, and maybe I will find info on your Johan. If so, I will get back to you.

Please send the file to ojala@mediaone.netSee other messages on this page for further info on my ancestors. Thak you. Bob Ojala

We had several Johan Ojalas in our family, but unless you see another link, it appears they are not the one you want.
Johan Erkinpoika Loytymoin Ojala was born 1819, married Hedvig Hoppa, and never left Finland. His son Johan was born in 1841 but died young in 1856. Johan Evert Ojala came with his father Isak to the U.S. I show that he was born in 1883, so too young. My grandfather had a brother Jakob, married Sofia Hautakoski. Jokob had a son Johan, but born in1872, so appears too young. My Great Uncle Herman Ojala had a wife named Johanna, but nothing else there
Sorry I was unable to help.

What do you know about your OJALAs? I will see if any matches mine. My Grandfather moved from Isokyro in 1880 and had two families in the U.S. One in Ohio and one in Minnesota. My grandfather was Gustaf, his father was Johan Loytymatoin Ojala. The Ohio family had a Johan Fredolph Ojala. The other family in Finland had a famaous math teacher named Herman ojala, and some of his sons and grandchildren also moved to the U.S.
Let me know if anything matches and I'll send more. I am trying to organize my data on computer and will distribute. Try RootsWeb Surnames List under Ojala for a large list of possible family members. I found I was related to nearly half of them. Just Enter Ojala in Yahoo and you'll be surprised, except for the Spanish meaning of the word.

This is the format used by the LDS church (and others) to list genealogical data in "official" format. I am also waiting to see this file, as I have quite a few Ojala relatives I have not been able to locate. I am hoping this gentleman checks his E-mails soon so both of us can get it. You will have to have a copy of the software to read it, but you can download it free from "SHOP" on this Web Address.
Are you Naomi Patricia Ojala? I ran your name through the Gen Tree Search engine and that is the only one I saw, with a father of Raymond Douglas Ojala.
If you have any Ojala data already, I would be interested. I will also share anything I have, in case we have similar roots.
