I'm posting a query for a friend who is looking for the parents of his great grandfather Dennis O’Halloran. This search is being done to both get their names and to establish where the family lived in Ireland. Family tradition has it that Dennis was from either Co. Cork or Co. Kerry. It is assumed that Dennis’ parents stayed in Ireland. Dennis b Ireland 1859 was the husband of Katherine Maker (could this name possibly be Maher?) O'Halloran. Katherine Maker (Maher?) b Wisconsin 1854 married Dennis in Wisconsin in abt. 1878. Their son, Clement was born in Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin on 11 Aug 1892. On 30 Nov 1916 in Hales Corners, Milwaukee, Wisconsin Clement married Alice Gertrude Sweeney born Sept 1894 in Muskego, Waukesha, Wisconsin. Alice was the daughter of Bryan Sweeney b abt. 1850 in Wisconsin and Mary Dyson b 15 May 1853 in Franklin, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mary was the daughter of Henry Dyson b abt. 1812 England d 4 Sep 1871 Franklin, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and M. Ellen Fitzgerald b abt. 1824 Ireland d 23 Jan 1896 Franklin, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Dennis O’Halloran and Katherine Maker (Maher?) also had two other children: a son Dennis P. O’Halloran b 27 Dec 1878 Wisconsin d 19 Jun 1940 Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin who was married in abt. 1903 to Cecelia ? and a daughter Katherine (Kitty) who was born abt. 1890 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Any help connecting with either the parents of Dennis O’Halloran or descendants of any of the people mentioned in this post would be greatly appreciated.

Mary

To correct and continue on Dennis O’Halloran: I believe from census and burial records that his year of birth is abt. 1843 not the 1859 I listed. From the 1900 census I saw that his oldest daughter Mary was born in NE in abt. 1873. Last night I found a marriage record at www.familysearch.org the LDS IGI search showing a Dennis O Halloran marrying a Kate Meagher (another form of Maher) on 16 Jan 1872. The search result was:
Dennis O’Halloran IGI Individual Record FamilySearch™ International Genealogical Index v5.0 North America
Dennis O Halloran Pedigree Male Family
Marriages:
Spouse: Kate Meagher Family
Marriage: 16 JAN 1872 , Lancaster, Nebraska
Messages: Extracted marriage record for locality listed in the record.

I think the record was found in one of these two sources: Item 5 Lancaster County, Nebraska records Daughters of the American Revolution. Deborah Avery Chapter (Lincoln, Nebraska) Item 6 Lancaster County, Nebraska records: Daughters of the American Revolution. Deborah Avery Chapter (Lincoln, Nebraska)

I also found a Dennis O Halloran in the 1870 census for Lincoln, Lancaster Co. NE. He was 29 so born abt. 1841. Only problem is the place of birth is listed as Conn. I still assume this is the Dennis I am after and that a mistake was made by the person at the rooming house who gave the info to the census taker. Strange thing is everyone listed before and after Dennis maybe six each way were all b Ireland.

Still hoping to hear from someone, someday.
Mary

Hi,
Even tho I am not a family member, everything should work out fine for you. Your cousin Danielle has a very complete tree.

I posted this request for the location in Ireland of O'Halloran ancestors when your grandmother's nieces were taking a trip to Ireland. The trip is long past so I have not followed up on the O'Hallorans.

Good luck learing all about your family from Danielle who has also posted here.

Mary

Hi ...I am the granddaughter of Patricia O'Halloran Gawronski. I think you and I connected a few years ago. Your mother, the daughter of Alice O'Halloran was the granddaughter of Clement and Alice (Sweeney ) O'Halloran. I have all the details in an Ancestry tree - I'd be happy to share. Please send your email address or ancestry.com user name and I will give you access to the tree.
