Patrick Ohair married Mary McArdle abt. 1822 in Ireland. They moved to America in the mid 1820's and settled in Marion township, Lee County, Illinois where they raised their family of 9 children. Patrick died abt 1858 and Mary died abt. 1880. Any information on the Parents or Siblings of Patrick or Mary would be appreciated.
Thanks, Gene

I don't know if we have a match or not. Your names do not look familiar to me.
Were they in Marion township, Lee County, Illinois, or near-by at the same time?
They might be related if they were. It would be interesting to find a brother or uncle of Patrick.
Thanks,
Gene Bird

I don't have a Patrick.

If you use Yahoo People Finder or some such, and look in Paris, Ill. and thereabouts, you should find some leads.
This runs up the phone bill, but you talk to some interesting people by saying, "I'm doing genealogy and we may be related. Whoever you get usually knows an older relative that "knows stuff" about the family.

Good luck, John

Thank you for your reply. I assume you are referencing the Michael O'Hair Family book by Virginia Brann.
I say this because of the marriage date. It listed mother as having married in 1934. She would have been 8 at the time. An obvious typo.
The actual date was February 1, 1944. I was born 3/30/45. That adds up to the good. The children of Dorothy Louise O'Hair Reckel were
John Everett Reckel 3/30/1945
Robert Lawrence Reckel, Jr. 6/4/1946
Thomas Gene Reckel 5/25/48
Carolyn Ruth Reckel 10/25/49 - 11/2/57

I also have a book published in 1971 by K.R. O'Hair entitled "Micheal O'Hair 1749 - 1813 Soldier of the Revolution". It is informative about Michael and his wives and children.
K.R. O'Hair makes many references to documents and copies of documents that he has in his files. He passed on several years ago.
Mrs. Brann has also gone on to her reward. She obviously possessed many documents to have created such a compendium.
I also understand that she published a second work that included many additional descendents.
I wonder where all those documents are now. Or at least references to the original documents.
All of that is invaluable in proper documentation.
You, as a descendant of Michael O'Hair, are a daughter of the American Revolution. Your father and sons are sons of the A.R. But knowing it and proving it are two entirely different matters. I learned this from a visit with a D.A.R. member.
Michael is my granddaughter's great-g-g-g-g-g-grandfather. I'd like to be able to prove it.
Do you have any information on where I might find some of this information.

My line to Michael is

Michael O'Hair
Michael Jr. O'Hair
John Western O'Hair
James Whitney O'Hair
Everett Ryan O'Hair
Dorothy Louise O'Hair
John Everett Reckel
Karen Michell Reckel
Rachel Rene Winkler (She's a cutie)

Got any leads?

I am interested in the supplement of Mrs. Brann's book.
I am interested in any libraries that might contain the referenced documents of these authors.

John

Hi, I am a decendant of Michael O'Hair and I would love more info on the Ireland side, Other than the fact that they originated from Kuighne and then moved to Newry County Down, I have nothing else from the Ireland side. I would love to know if there are any living decendants still in Ireland and any other info that I can get. In the future I am planning on a trip to Ireland and would like to know as much as I can possibly find out. I have read some of the Michael O'Hair Family History Book at the Greencastle library and would like to obtain one of my own, so, If you could help, I would truly appreciate it, Thank-You, Tammy Watson You can E-Mail me at- jtwatson2@yahoo.com.
