I am looking for info on a Michael O'Hagan who emigrated to the US (we think Massachusetts) in the 1860's, 70's or 80's. My mother was Helen O'Hagan, born in 1916. She was a sister to Ed, Jim and Kathryn O'Hagan. Their father was James O'Hagan. My grandfather, James, was 1 of 12 or 13 children born to Michael O'Hagan and his wife, Kathryn McCormick. I am literally in the infancy stage of this research so I know very little. Everything that I've read seems to indicate that the O'Hagan's are from County Tyrone. My Aunt Kathryn, however, seems to recall her grandfather, Michael, going back to Ireland to visit family on 3 different occasions and returning with gifts from Donegal. Family may have moved to that area, or the items he purchased could have just been sold in No. Ireland. Wish I knew.Anyway, if you have any info on Michael O'Hagan that you would be willing to share with me, I would be most grateful. Also - any tips on where I might be able to write in Ireland for further info. Thanks much! Nancy

I don't know if you're looking for the same Michael O'Hagan I'm looking for... my grandfather was Michael O'Hagan. He was born on the border between the counties Tyrone and Armagh in N. Ireland. He was the youngest son of about 12 or 13 children. His wife's name was Kathleen. I am new to this search. Have you found out anything useful so far?

My grandfather's name was Michael O'Hagan. Not sure what his brother's names were but I know that when my grandfather was 12 (he was the youngest of several siblings), his father told all the boys to leave Ireland due to English taking over their land. My grandfather went to Scotland but his older brothers went to America. I think his father's name might have been Edward but not sure. Michael married Kathleen Findlay.

My grandfather, Michael O'Hagan was from County Armagh - I always heard my father say that the O'Hagan estate was on the Armagh/Tyrone border... my grandfather was the youngest of several brothers and sisters. When they left Ireland, most of his brothers went to USA. My grandfather went to Scotland. We might be related... considering the Tyrone/Armagh origins

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, my great grandfather Michael J. O'Hagan (b 1867 approx) had a son Michael(late 1800's early 1900's) that was born in Lowell Mass. My Great Grandfather married Mary A. Roarke in Lowell Mass, his father was John Patrick O'Hagan and mother Mary ???. I have had a hard time locating info on O'Hagan in Ancestry.com for Northern Ireland. Our family history states he came from Omagh, Co Tyrone. He was protestant, his father John owned land & sheep. That is all that we know except he came to America, landed in NYC Port Authority. The only Michael that I found in that fime period has a brother Patrick, Daniel and I cannot remember the other brother listed. Our Michael came to Lowell alone. We don't have any idea if these were his brother and he left them and didn't keep in touch. My Michael & Mary had 11 children which my grandfather Arthur was the second to the youngest. May be we are distant relatives. It will be wonderful when I can finally confirm where he came from and any relatives that I may be related too. Their is a belied, in my family that Michael was sent to England to learn a trade, Machinist. I haven't tried to find his family in Scotland. But will in the future. Thanks again.
