Dear Jessica,
You can find out quite a lot by going to
http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk and checking the census returns and births/marriages/deaths. Janet Ogilvie's father Thomas appears to have been a hat manufacturer; he married Elizabeth Hunter (of Glasgow) in 1878 but it's difficult to make out what her parents did for a living. Janet's sister Kathleen emigrated to New Zealand (I understand we have family out there still) and Euphemia married a clergyman, Alexander Wishart and had a daughter Elizabeth, known to the family as Pullie. She never married but was quite a character (she drove a 1920's Riley car, complete with a "dicky" seat)and continued to live in the old manse in Aboyne until she died in around 1980.
In case you are wondering, I am one of Janet's 16 grandchildren, my dad was Norman and your great gran is my aunt. You probably know as much as I do about my parent's generation; Auntie Margaret has an extremely good memory! Hopefully we shall catch up with one another one day in Louth...
Libby (Elizabeth)
