I am glad you noticed the two descendants of James Hogg, I am in touch with both of them. Their family info is like mine, starting with first appearance in America during mid-1700's and no documentation before that time. I would point out that one of my family's early researchers believed Alexander came from Northern Ireland, but I was never able to find any family specific documents that supported Ireland or Scotland.
The John Hogg linkage in New England is interesting because we might be able to find documents here, where we have lots of historical archives. BTW - the William Church family is documented as descended from John Hogg, they have the actual court documents concerning the name change. I am in touch with some of these family members as well.
Yes, I am excited about the possibility of your David Ogg lineage fitting an important spot in this puzzle. You and I have exchanged information for many years, it would be great to connect the branches!
