Surnames: O'Gara/Farrell/Crowley
I need help with this family. Mary O'Gara married John Farrell, son of Abraham Farrell and Jane Clarke then Married January 2, 1851, Jeremiah, son of John Crowly (deceased) and Ellen Driscol- see info below. Also a Dominic O'Gara is a witness at the baptism of Elizabeth O'Gara- I suspect Dominic is John O'Gara's brother. I need info on him also. There is also a Patrick O'Gara who was a witness at another baptism I think Patrick, John & Dominic are brother.
HELP ME PLEASE!!! I'VE BEEN AT THIS TOO LONG AND HIT A BRICK WALL NOW FOR 6 YRS.!

1) Baptisms - St. Mary's Cathedral, Kingston, 18 46
O'Gara, Elizabeth baptised November 15, 1846, born November 10, daughter of John O'Gara and Catharine Milllarky
Sponsors: Dominic O'Gara and Ellen McCarty

2) Confirmations - St. Mary's Cathedral, Kingston
October 18, 1843 - Catharine Ann O'Gara
May 15, 1845 - Mary O'Gara - 16 years
The confirmations give very little information but they verify the fact that there were O'Gara's in Kingston at that time. I suspect that Catharine Ann and Mary were sisters of John Jr. but I cannot prove that.

3) Marriage - St. Mary's Cathedral, Kingston
Farrell - O'Gara
Married November 18, 1845, parents of Drumhone, County Donegal, to Mary O'Gara, daughter of John O' Gara andCatharine Millarky.
Witnesses: John O'Gara and Reverend Patrick Dollard

Mary seems to have been confirmed in May 1845 and married the same year in November. She was only 16 when she was confirmed.

4) Marriage - St. Mary's Cathedral, Kingston
Crowly - O'Gara
Married January 2, 1851, Jeremiah, son of John Crowly (deceased) and Ellen Driscol of Kingston Mills, to Mary, daughter of John O'Gara and Catharine Melarky of Brewer's Mills.
Witnesses: John O'Gara, John Elliott and Sara Bryner.

Hi Eileen!

I've have a brick wall with my O'Garas as well. You mentioned Kingston below. Where is Kingston? Is it Kingston, Rhode Island? The parents of my great-great grandmother, Ctherine O'Gara, are Dominic O'Gara and Mary Clarke. They are from Aghanagh, Sligo, Ireland. Catherine and her brothers and sisters settled in Providence, Rhode Island.

Thanks!
Annette

My O'Gara family settled in Kingston-Ontario, Canada. That's in Frontenac County. There are O'Gara's in Carleton County in the same years as John & Catherine. In some of the records there is a Dominic O'Gara, Michael O'Gara, Patrick O'Gara as witnesses to baptisms or other such events. I believe they are John's brothers but I have no info or parents for John & Catherine other than what's in the baptism & marriage records of their children. Their son John married Sarah Donoghue and Sarah & the kids settled in Chicago @ Oakley Ave. in 1872.

John O'Gara (of John & Catherine) had a sister Catherine who married James Elliott. Catherine's gravestone says that she was born in Westport, Ireland. That's in County Mayo. John's son John married a Sarah Donoghue and the marriage registry says John is from County Mayo. That's all the Ireland info I have on my family- thus the brick wall!!!!

Hi Annette, I wonder if your O Gara name comes from Brougher (Broher) near Ballinafad, Sligo? I have done a lot of research on my family Clarke who come from that area. other names in my tree are Mullaney, Taheny and McDonagh, all names from that area along with Cryan name. My great uncle Patrick Clarke moved from Broher to live in Providence. Any names familiar?

Yes, those names are familiar. I have been researching all the O'Garas and Clarkes in the Providence area to see if they are all related. Please send me an email: polgara370@gmail.com. I will send you all the pieces to the puzzle that I've gathered. Hopefully, between the two of us, we can figure something out!

Thanks!
