O'Gara, (Milarkey, Mellargy,Millarky?),Lavin
I found John and Catherine on a "heads of household" census from 1844 in Kingston, Ontario Canada They were living on Arthur St.. John gives his occupation as stone mason. The children were not named but were counted. There was 1 boy under 15, 2 boys over 15, 3 girls under 7, 2 girls under 15, 1 girl over 15 for a total of 9 family members. They all were Irish.
1851 Canadian Census. I find John & Catherine with daughters Bridget13, Ann 11, Margaret 7, & Elizabeth 5. Also with them is their son John 15. All the ages are at their next birthday. In the "61" census there is no Ann or Bridget with the family however a Bridget does show up in the "61" census on a previous page as a servant to someone. I also found a death record for a 10/28/1890.. The top of the page read Catherine O'Gara
John's sister Catherine married a James Elliott. Her headstone says she was from Westport. I'm looking for John and his sister's parents and verification of where they were from in Ireland. I need help with this family- John & Catherine O'Gara. John's wife Catherine'e maiden name is listed on different records with different spellings- (Milarkey, Mellargy,Millarky?) Another ancestry member thinks her Bridgett O'Gara and mine are the same -John's sister- but her Bridgett's mother's maiden name is listed as Lavin. We need help solving this puzzle!!! Thank you in advance for any help anyone can offer. Eileen O'Gara Brosius
