Surnames: Fallan
Hi, It seems this thread is a bit old but I just started researching this year and came across this posting. Martin and Alberta were my Great Grandparents and have found some info on them but I have hit a wall; I have not been able to find any more about them prior to leaving Norway. My Grandmother was Mable Eleanor Fallan, I still have a few pictures and clippings that I got from my relatives that I need to scan and post. Any help on the Norway side would be of great help.

Thanks, Randy

Without any dates of birth/immigration etc that is next to impossible.

Luckily the free online databases at FamilySearch.org show Martin and Alberta's family in several US censuses and estimate that Martin was born about 1886-1888 in Norway and immigrated to the US in 1910. So he could be expected to show up in the 1900 Norwegian census... but perhaps not using the surname "Fallan".

Yes, Martin, Alberta and child left Norway from Trondheim on or about 2 March 1910 -

(Middle initial G listed for Martin is probably important to further research.)

Your task should be to find some record or notation of what parish or church in Norway where the couple resided, married and/or were born to continue further research. Some US record somewhere could well assist you in that.

You should also post a good query to the Norway message boards. You have enough information from the links above to compose a very good query.
