In answer to your question, yes. My branch of the family originated in Wilshire. We have records going back to the mid 18th Century. It seems that Ody has been a not unknown name in that county for many years.
The first reference to the name I have met was in the year 1290 in Worcester. There was a knight, Sir John Ody, mentioned at that time. Needless to say, I have no method of determining if he has anything to do with our lot!
In my own case, our branch of the family moved from Wiltshire to south Buckinghamshire in the middle of the 19th Century. We have been in an around the area for the last five generations.
