Hi, fellow Odys! I'm from Gloucestershire. My father Ivan came from Lyneham, Wiltshire, as did my Grandfather, Herbert Ody. Wiltshire was one of the places the first Ody's took up residence when they came over from Normandy with WIlliam the Conqueor. I believe Stephan Odo (where the Ody name derives from) was the half brother of King Richard the Lionheart no less! Can anyone check this out? Maybe we've all got some unclaimed land or inheritances somewhere! I can but dream! The Ody motto is "Nil desperandum" or as I and all my family members have always said (before we knew of this!)
