I am looking for my gr-gr-grandfather James O'Conor. All we know is that he had at least one daughter, Helen Alice O'Conor, who married Charles Henry Fisher. James was in the Civil War and worked at the US Patent Office after the war. At one time he moved to Woodruff County,Arkansas as a teacher. According to his teaching license, he was born in Philadelphia PA in 1842. I would appreciate any information you have on where I could research this name, or if there are other O'Conor message boards. Thanks alot!

Brenda,

I don't have much, but there may be some connection.

I have a Mary O'Conor (b. 1832), married Robert Finley (b. 1832), with daughter Sarah Ann (b. 22 Mar 1829, Washington Co, PA, who married Rev Moses Mecham 1851).

I would appreciate whatever anyone could add to or correct this.

Larry,

I realize this response is ridiculously late, but here it is anyway. I have changed my email address and, well at any rate, better late than never. I am unsure if this would be my family, I am looking for a James O'Conor, but we know that he was born in PA, I think the teaching certificate I have says Philadelphia. Perhaps this would be a sister. The dates would certainly work.

I will see if I can find anything on a sister.

Thank you!
