Hi, well, I spent some time at my mom's and hit the jackpot, I have a pic of Clarence when he was a young man, possibly 15-17 years old!!! I also have a picture of a little girl Helen called Snookie. I have another picture that does not have a name on the back, only says "from gramma to Helen with love to you" So, I do not know if it is Arabella or Cecelia's mom. I know grandma was only 8 when her mom died, so I don't know who raised her.
I know she would dress my mom up in the late 50's and go to the Ochsenbein reunions.
I have found pics of a Walter and Kay and young lady, a pic of someone she called Aunt Margarette that grew huge cucumbers!!!

Upon further research I have found that there is no Marian Schroeder, Marian is actually Arminta's first name...
Does anyone know how many children William J Ochsenbein and Arabella had?
Also, does anyone have a picture of Cecilia and Clarence P's stone if there is one?

Helen was my great half aunt. Who is your mother and father?
Do you have brother and/or sisters? Clarence was indeed in the US Army
6th Calvary and stationed in Ft Oglethorpe GA less than 5 miles from my home in Chickamauga, GA. I've learned that my grandfather, Clarence was married at least 3 times. 1st to Cecelia, then to my grandmother, Ola Pennington, and Ruth West. I do hope to hear back from you soon.

Best Wishes,
Betty Ochsenbein White

Clarence was married to my grandmother, Ola V Pennington and they had 1 child, Paul Herbert Ochsenbein. My father was raised in Chattanooga, TN. Apparently, my grandmother while married to Clarence, Sr helped raise my half-aunt, Helen Rose and half-uncle, Clarence, Jr. Then they were divorced and just a couple of days after their divorced was finalized, Clarence Sr married Ruth West.

I have been trying to find out why my father was abandoned by the Ochsenbein family.

Any information to this mystery would be greatly appreciated

Ann, I am working on this family right now. Marion Ochsenbein's maiden name was Rader. She was the daughter of James Rader. You may also find the name in records as Roder or other variations.
Samuel was first married to Frances Rader. They had children Emaline (Emma), Elizabeth, Samuel, Ada, Laura, William, and Reuben. Frances died around 1870, maybe in childbirth with Reuben who was born in Nov 1870. In Dec. of 1871, Samuel married Frances' sister Marion Araminta Rader, and they had children Albert, James Walter, George, and Viola Myrtle. Well, this is the best I can figure out so far. There could be other children I don't know about. Please email me to exchange info. I would like to know where the Thompsons fit into the Ochsenbein family. I hope the information I've given you has been helpful.
Sandy

Yes, I'm related to Sam Ochsenbein who was 42 in 1880 was my great great grandfather. He was married to Marion at the time and they produced 8 children. Their names were Emman, Samuel,
William (my great grandfather), Addie, Albert, Walter, George, and Myrtle. The name Ochsenbein literally translated means Leg of an Ox. As you can see from the 1880 Census report my great, great grandfather was a butcher as well as 2 of his sons.

As for the White family, I have no information as of this time. My ex-husband's family were from Sand Mountain, AL.

Randy,
I am interested in locating anyone related to Irene STONER and Carl OCHSENBEIN. Irene was the daughter to my great aunt Anna KUNZLER and her husband Alfred STONER. They were married in Montpelier, Idaho. Irene was born in 1913 and when her father pasted away in 1958, she was listed in the obituary as Mrs. Carl F. OCHSENDEIN. It also lists that there was one "grandchild." Unfortunately no name was given so I don't know if the child was male or female. Do you and anyone else know of these people? Any information would be of interest. Thanks, Judy
Hi. In my research of my son's girlfriend's family, I found that there was a Charles Taylor, born 1860 in WV, that married a Elizabeth Ochsenbein, born 1862 in OH. Elizabeth's parents, according to the census records for Belmont Co., OH, were born in Switzerland. I believe this Elizabeth's father might have been Samuel Ochsenbein. The Samuel that I found in the census had a son Samuel and a daughter Elizabeth. In the 1880 census for Belmont Co., OH there is a Charles Taylor and his wife "Lizzie" living next door to a Elizabeth Ochsenbein and her grandson, Reuben, age 9. I think this Elizabeth might be the widow of Samuel and the mother of "Lizzie". My reason to do my son's girlfriend's family tree was because of the last name Taylor. That is also my maiden name and I'm from Washington Co., PA. My grandfather had 5 sons to his first marriage for which we know nothing about. I at first wanted to make sure my son and his girlfriend were not related but her last name should be Bowen because her dad was adopted by his step-father who was a Taylor. Seems all of these Taylor's so far are in the St. Clairsville area of Belmont Co., OH. Also interested in your last name, "White". I have Whites from Marshall Co., WV.
Simon,
It's been a while since we last communicated concerning the Ochsenbein family. I have since our last email obtained a bit more information concerning my grandfather, my great grandfather, and great, great grandfather. From this information I have discovered that my family is from Switzerland, not Germany was we were lead to believe.

Have you any new news on the Ochsenbeins from your side of the world?

Sincerely,
Betty Ochsenbein White
drvrtips4u@yahoo.com

Clarence Paul Ochsenbein, from Belmount County, OH, was my grandfather whom I never met. He married my grandmother Ola V Pennington on August 18, 1929 in Chattanooga, TN. They produced one son, Paul Herbert Ochsenbein. My father was born on September 21, 1932. Clarence Paul and Ola V were divorced on May 11, 1935.

Clarence Paul Ochsenbein was previously married to Cecelia Francis. Their marriage produced Helen Rose Ochsenbein and Clarence Paul Ochsenbein, Jr. Helen contacted my grandmother, Ola V Ochsenbein from time to time. I have several letters and a bible from Helen that were sent to my grandmother, Ola V.

I am trying to locate family members from Clarence Paul Ochsenbein. I would like to obtain a photo and information about a grandfather who I never knew.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Betty Ochsenbein White

Hello All Ochsenbeins

Hi,

I am from one of the two Ochsenbein families in Australia. I live in the capital, Canberra.
It would be great to hear from any of you. My address is simply: ochsenbein@hotmail.com

I have a large database of Ochsenbeins which I copied from the notes of a Swiss genealogist called Julius Billiter. He has been shown to be unreliable in linking family groups. Now I would like to sort out the mess.
His notes cover all Ochsenbeins in the Steffisburg/Fahrni area born after 1490 and those who died before about 1900.
I would be happy to share this database with any of you. I have it in a file associated with the LDS church's Program Personal Ancestral File (PAF) but can also create a GEDCOM file.
It would be great to be able to link us all up. Compared to other surnames, there are not many of us in the world.

Simon

Hi all,

I too am part of the Ochsenbein's in the Idaho area and interested in searching out my family tree. My father has done a fair amount of searching so I'd like to build off he's effort in furthering the search.

It's my understanding that Julius Billiter did some work in Switzerland but there maybe some discrepancies in the information, anyone who can help clarify this it would be appreciated.
