I am looking for African American Oberrys from Alabama. My ggrandmother was listed as Cherry Oberry in the 1870 U S Census along with her son Paul, who is my grandfather. In 1878 Cherry was a Jefferson on her marriage records to Otto Clarke. She had four children at that time, Paul, Louisa, Felix, and Corine.

There were eleven Oberrys listed in Hale County, Alabama in the 1870 census.All were llisted as B on the census, with the exception of Wilson Oberry, who was listed as M and had been listed as W on the 1860 and 1850 census records and was listed as overseer. I will post the names of the other eleven Oberrys later.
