Hi there:

I am responding to your email about the Oake's in Fogo Island, Newfoundland, Canada.

My husband's father is from Fogo Island, Newfoundland. My husband's father's grandmother's name was Elizabeth Ann Oake married to John Delaney. They are listed in the 1935 Census along with my husband's grandfather, Lonzo Delaney.

Any information you might have on Elizabeth Ann Oake b. 1875 (appr.) would be of great value to me.

Kindly email me back if you can, thanks a lot!

My grandfather was born in Iowa then moved to Chicago where he went to school becoming a pharmacist and then on to med school, becoming a physician. He lived and practiced medicine on the west side of Chicago and was on staff at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, Illinois. My grandfather's parents, born in England, emigrated to Iowa, USA in the mid 19th century. My grandfather had three brothers, one of whom died in Los Angeles, my grandfather died in Chicago in 1961. I have not picked up the thread on his other two brothers but the family were in the Delmare, Clinton, Sabula area of Iowa.

If you are referring to William T. Oake, you should check out the family tree at this link: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op....
You might also find the obituary of his uncle, Charles Briggs, quite interesting at this link: http://boards.ancestry.com/localities.northam.usa.states.iow...
It was written by Wm. T.'s father, William Royal Oake III. Good luck!

Yes, I believe Elizabeth's Oakes's parents were Josiah and Eliza. Any information you have would be much appreciated.

Thank you.
