Nathaniel Oak Descendents
Hello Oaks Researchers -
I would like to thank Ralph Arnsparger for adopting 3 Surnames: OAK, OAKS, and OAKES. When searching one, don't forget to check the other two.
I descend from Nathaniel Oak, the immigrant, as follows: 1. Nathaniel Oak / Mary Holloway 2. John Oak / Susanna Allen 3. Nathaniel Oak / Susanna Hastings 4. William Oak / Sarah Alger 5. Benjamin Hastings Oak / Mariah Sedam 6. William Oak / (1)Cynthia Dickason (2)Mary Oatman 7. Perry Oak / Eliza Oatman 8. Sarah Oak / Franklin Morgan
Looking for information on ancestors and descendants.
Thanks Linda (Mix) Mathis

Re: Nathaniel Oak Descendents
I am looking for information on Nathaniel Oak and Susannah Hastings. I think they may be the parents of Ebenezer Oaks who moved to what is now West Virginia and married a local girl named Drusilla. Their son, John Calvin Oakes, moved to Colorado Co., Texas and is my link.
Any help would be appreciated.
Sincerely, Tammy STARK Blandino

"Nathaniel Oak and Susannah Hastings. I think they may be the "parents of Ebenezer Oaks
The [typically] reliable Oak/Oaks/Oakes biographer/genealogist Henry Lebbeus Oak lists 9 children for Nathaniel & Susanna but no Ebenezer. But pobody's nerfect!
What are your reasons for thinking they may be Eben's parents?

Since you haven't replied to my question for almost three months, should we conclude that you have no reason for believe that Ebenezer is the 10th child of Nathaniel?

Re: Nathaniel Oak Descendents
I'm sorry for not replying. I'm not sure how this all got lost.
I received quite a bit of information concerning this Oak/Oaks/Oakes, but the information did not include any citations. The person who sent it to me stated that they would send me the citation list, but never did. Since it was around the holidays I decided to wait until after the holidays before I contacted them again. I've been so caught up in working 3 other lines that I haven't gotten back to them.
If they don't have a citation list to send then I'll have to see if I can't locate sources to prove or disprove their information. I'd be happy to send the two charts they gave me to you. If you're interested in it then send an email to my address and I'll send you copies. It takes the family back to the 1600's.

I'm confident that sources cannot be found to prove a tenth child. Finding sources to DISprove a tenth child is obviously much much more difficult. Proving a negative always is, unless, for instance the mother died before the child was reported to have been born. Henry Lebbeus Oak was a PROfessional historian as well as a family member. I have independently confirmed all of the genealogy that he has published relevant to my ancestry, so I consider him reliable.
HLO did document an Ebenezer, son of Nathaniel born 1762 and Susannah EVANS. I have no info on him. Have you found this Ebenezer and his descendants in censuses?
