I have been searching my Corner line and am tring to build a tree, but have found it difficult.
My GG Grand Parents were Alexander Corner and Margaret Oag m. Oct 18, 1839 in Wick, Caithness, Scotland.
Margaret's parents were Alexander Oag and Alexandrina Miller m. Sept 10 1803 in Wick. Caithness, Scotland.
Alexander's parents were Colin Oag and Marsella Miller m. Mar 31 1769...location unknown.
There was also a Margaret Oag that married a Francis Corner before 1792 and most likely in Wick as that is where their children were born. I have not yet connected this to my Corner family.
Also interesting are the surnames of Bremner, Bain, and Plowman noted in some of the postings....they all have Corner connections also.
If anyone has any connections I am willing to share info

Re: CORNER / OAG families
Hi I am a Corner from Yorkshire and I am wondering if our families were connected in the past. I've noticed 2 big clusters of our surname, one in Caithness and Orkney and another in North Yorkshire and Durham in North East England.
I remember reading somewhere that there was a vague possibility of the name being connected with Clan Gunn, i.e. a contraction of the name 'Coroner' from George Gunn, Coroner of Caithness in the fifteenth century.
Do you have any information about the origin of our surname? Thanks.
