Hello: John and Pauline O'neal are my grandparents. Martha is my mother and only she and Pauline are alive. Hazel, John, Jim and Ken have all passed away. My grandfather passed away in 1963 and my Grandmother passed away in 1975. Jim and Hazel both passed in 1991, Ken passed about 10 or so years ago and John passed away in 1979. Hazel had no children, John had 6 children, Jim had two children and Ken had a son who passed away about 18 years ago. My mother, Martha, I am not in touch with as she has many unresolved issues. Pauline has 3 children and I am in touch with her and her daughter, they live in Minnesota.

This is pretty amazing. I am totally new to the 'hobby' of genealogy and was in the process of closing down my account when I got a notice. I followed the thread, and ran across this post. My birth name is Dennis O'Neal, and my father is James Pitman O'Neal. My limited research showed him as being born in Wathell Mississippi in 1913.

I'm not sure of the exact timing, but my father abandoned, and later divorced my mother either just before or just after I was born, so I never knew him. I took the name of the man she married when I was about 3 years old and was my only father figure.

Since your post is nearly 5 years old, you might be no longer active on the ancestory.com site, and I have no idea if they allow posting of other contact information, but I'm going to post my direct e-mail address anyway.

I live in Las Vegas Nv and was born in August 1947. There is a site called 23and me. Another lady contacted me on that site because our DNA showed us to be strongly related. It turns out that she was related to a Georgia Kent who is my grandmother (married to William O'Neal)

It is very interesting to find family ties, and I hope to correspond with others. Please use the email- address that I listed above (assuming that it's not edited out) . My account here will only be active through the 26th of April 2015.

Thanks, and I hope to hear from any of my long lost relatives :) ...... I might find it exciting enough to sign up with Ancestry again :)

I don't know much about the O"Neal family. My Great Aunt Pauline Flook O'Neal was married to John O'Neal. She was born on Maryland and they moved to California.

thank you for the reply. The lady that I had responded to is very likely a niece that I had no idea existed. It also appears that I had a half brother, who is likely dead at this point. On one level, it's pretty exciting. The sequence of events (my wife's employer offering genetic testing through 23 and me, me taking a dna test, the results alerting another member of 23 and me,and exposing me to ancestory.com, and a "leaf" announcement leading me to this message board. It's almost like a series of dominoes clicking together).

The frustration level is that my highly probable niece hasn't been on Ancestory for a year. It's likely that she allowed her membership to expire, which I am about to do as well. She did leave a few clues that I might be able to use through one of the personal search engines (they're generally a waste of money, but I discovered one that did help me track down some people I went to high school with, and a few that I went to college with. Maybe I'll be fortunate enough to track her down as well.) :)

Thanks again for your response.
