Family of Botolf Marinius (Johansen) Nyborg

Surnames: Nyborg
I am searching for the family of my great grandfather, Botolf Marinius Johansen Nyborg. He was probably born in Gjovik in the Oppland region, Norway in 1880. He immigrated to New York in 1911 and was later joined by his wife Evenda (nee Evensen) and children. He was a minister in several churches in Portland, Maine; Thieves River Falls, Minnesota; Tacoma Washington; and finally Brooklyn, New York. I do not know much of anything about his family, but my Grandmother once told me that his family may have been originally from Denmark. Any leads would be much appreciated. Thanks.

My grandfather was Sverre Nyborg, apparently Botolf's younger brother. He arrived with his parents in 1916, & they headed for Wisconsin to join other sons who emigrated earlier. I am very new to this, but will happily share whatever I learn, & hope that you will do the same. I was warned years ago that tracking Norwegians is very difficult because they often take on different surnames. Best of luck, cousin!

Hi Cynthia. Thank you for contacting me. I am familiar with Sverre from my research. I would love to exchange any info I have on the Nyborgs with you. If you want to email me, I can invite to you see my tree. My email is douglas.goldberg@gmail.com. I also went to Norway this summer and I have a few photos you might be interested in.

Thank you, Douglas, I did not anticipate such a prompt reply! For whatever reason, probably my own lack of tech savvy, my system does not work well with g-mail, unless I am responding to one sent to me. My e-mail address is dantheny@q.com. Sverre was my grandfather, & I loved him dearly. I was a high school freshman when he died, quite unexpectedly, & have been on a quest to learn more about the family ever since. I have looked for Nyborgs in every city I've visited (most of the northern states) & never found any. Any info you have, as well as photos, will be deeply appreciated! And I will share anything I uncover, as well. Do you have any objection to me sharing your address with my aunt (Sverre's one surviving child)? She may have information and/or questions other than mine, but I don't give up other people's information without permission!
With blessings,
Cynthia Busch
