I have more information about Carrie Nutick. She was my great-grandmother. She was married in 1892 to David Muchmore. They had four children, Florence, Blanche, Wilbur, and Mabel. Tragically, her husband David was murdered in 1907. He was shot by an angry neighbor in the presence of his entire family--including his wife, his children, and George and Anna Nutick. In fact, George Nutick had one of his fingers shot off while trying to grab the gun away from the killer. Carrie never re-married and died in 1952.

My father also went to Withrow, and he too remembered his grandmother Carrie working there. He said that she always used to give him double portions whenever he went through the lunch line.

I have more information, if you are interested.

James Muchmore
Kalamazoo, Michigan
Can anyone tell me if this Mitchell Nutick is related to the Eli Nutick/Margaret Weiss family? I know that Harry Henry Nutick and Lillian Myrtle Armstrong had a son named Mitchell Nutick born Mar 25, 1909 and he'd be kind of old to be the performer listed below, but I believe that this elder Mitchell Nutick did name a son after himself. Maybe it is this younger Mitchell Nutick listed below? If not, then he has to be related to the only other Nutick family in the whole United States, a Jewish Nutick family that came to the States later than our family and didn't come from Germany.
~ Anna Kasper

Mitchell Nutick
Male
Performer

Productions Dates of Production
Guys and Dolls [Revival, Musical, Comedy]
Performer: Mitchell Nutick [Dancer] Apr 28, 1965 - May 9, 1965
13 Daughters [Original, Musical]
Performer: Mitchell Nutick [Dancer] Mar 2, 1961 - Mar 25, 1961
The Girls Against the Boys [Original, Musical, Revue]
Performer: Mitchell Nutick [Rabbit] Nov 2, 1959 - Nov 14, 1959
The Body Beautiful [Original, Musical, Comedy]
Performer: Mitchell Nutick [Dancer];
Performer: Mitchell Nutick [Reporter] Jan 23, 1958 - Mar 15, 1958
Bells Are Ringing [Original, Musical, Comedy]
Performer: Mitchell Nutick [Dancer] - Replacement;
Performer: Mitchell Nutick [Joey] - Replacement;
Understudy: Mitchell Nutick [Francis] - Replacement
Thanks so much for posting these jpg images online! I know I'm a bit late in seeing your post (LOL). I see my name is in the family tree you posted. I've been researching the Nutick family since 1984! You are correct that the name originally was Utig or Udic etc...Something that is missing from the tree is that awhile back I discovered the name of Margaret Weiss' father. It's listed on her death certificate. His name was Henry Weiss born in Germany. The name of her mother is still a mystery. In the 1870 census Eli is listed as Elias and I believe this to be his full first name. Also, in the 1870 census they are both listed as being born in Bavaria. In the 1800 census it lists Eli and Margaret as being born in Prussia and all their parents being born in Prussia as well.

What happened to Emma Nutick after the 1900 census is still a mystery to me. Carrie Nutick did marry (married name unknown to me at this time) my cousin Anne (a Nutick through the Biddle line) remembers seeing Carrie daily working in the cafeteria of her Jr & Sr High school in Cincinnati. No other information is know about Carrie Nutick.

Also my sister's name is missing from the tree. Billie Jo (married name Brown).

You may already have this info. because I've shared any new findings via email with Rose, and also with Ryan Nutick, my Armstrong cousins and family and others.

:-) Anna Kasper

That information is awesome. It answers a lot of questions for me. Nice to have background on Alice Elizabeth Nutick Armstrong. My mother was nee Jane Elizabeth Armstrong, daughter of Bruce Hamilton Armstrong and Vivian Armstrong. Alice was her grandmother and lived with them till her death.

I have several pictures which could be of interest. The one of Alice and George when they were young is in the computer so I could send that any time but I don't see your email.

Anyone have any info on Carrie Nutick d/o Eli Nutick and Margaret Weiss?

I have been in contact with a Nutick cousin for some years now named Anne (descended from George Nutick, son of Eli & Margaret) and she attended Withrow Jr. High and High School in Cincinnati. She was there in 1942 & 43. She used to see her "Aunt Carrie" almost every day when she went to the cafeteria for lunch (Carrie Nutick worked in the school cafeteria). She was Anne's grandfather's sister. Anne does remember that Carrie was married. But doesn't remember if she ever knew her married name or if she had children.

Just thought I'd post what I know about Carrie, since she and her sister Emma seem to be the big mysteries among the Nutick siblings.

~ Anna Kasper
My grandfather was Bruce Hamilton Armstrong, the last of 9 children for George and Alice Armstrong. Alice lived with my mother and her parents. The Lavina you mentioned used to sew clothes and made some for my mother Jane and her sister. In my grandmother's family Bible is looked like she wrote Alice's maiden name as Nuticie, but it was difficult to read.

I have a picture of George and Alice when they were young.

Clayton Barnett

My half-aunt in Florida just sent me the Nutick portion of her family tree (5 .jpg pages). It clearly is partly yours. Her father was George Jacob Nutick, brother to your Alice Elizabeth Nutick who married George Armstrong and who had a son (among 7 children) named Les.
My half aunt's mother's name was also Alice Nutick probably named after you relation.
Unfortunately, the family tree she sent only goes back one generation earlier to Elias Utig who married Margarethe Weiss (-1919).

I would be happy to send you the jpgs as an attachment.
I hope you get this, Anna. I tried the email address you posted for Rose, but it bounced back. I am fairly certain George P. Armstrong and Alice Elizabeth Nutick were my G-G-Grandparents. My baby book lists them as George Armstrong and Alice Nudick, but my mom was only 18 when she filled it in i 1961, so who knows. Anyway, if it's the right George and Alice, they had a son, Leslie Armstrong, who was my G-Grandfather. If you have any other information, I would love to get my hands on it. Kinda new to this, but I have the bug bad.
I just read your message. I am married to David Nutick who is the son of Harry Valentine Nutick of the Madisonville area. I have a little information and am willing to share it with you. Harry's father also married an Armstrong.

Nutick

Eli Nutick and Margaret(te) Weiss were born in Germany. They were in Ohio by the time their first child, Valentine Nutick was born. Other children: Alice Elizabeth b. 1871 in Madisonville (Cincinnati), Hamilton Co., OH, Charles, Harry, Carrie, And Emma. The name wasn't originally Nutick, but possibly Utig, Ludwig or ? I have been unable to find them in the Ohio census records until 1900 even though they were there in 1870 and 1880. I believe that their name was "mis" recorded by census takers and I just haven't located them yet. Alice Elizabeth Nutick m. George P. Armstrong and moved first to Kansas and then later to Washington State. The Armstrong family helped settle Anderson Twp., in Hamilton County, Ohio and there is much information available about them. Valentine never married and is buried with his mother Margaret Nutick at a cemetery in Madisonville.
