re Thomas junior
his possible Naval record listed him as Thomas William Nugent born 16th Aug 1898 in Deptford London :- GRO ref, Sept qua 1898 Greenwich - as Thomas Nugent (no William included with it)
his marriage in Toxteth Park, Liverpool on 08th Aug 1920 aged 21 as able seaman lists him as Thomas William Nugent - father as Thomas William Nugent, deceased, boatswain
my half uncle always said if they (his siblings and he) were naughty or had a temper that they were told by their mother that they were just like the Mulligan side (ie from the father's side of the family) because of this my half uncle said his paternal side had MULLIGAN connections (no such names on his maternal side (my blood connection researched)
I looked high and low for a Nugent and Mulligan marriage without success - it was only by stumbling across the grandmother's marriage history that revealed the Mulligan name by the time of her third marriage!
I now think Thomas Sr may have done a flit and never came back - especially by the grandmother's 2nd marriage she listed herself as a spinster - not divorced or widowed - maybe she considered it not a genuine marriage because he disappeared on her (???) Her 2nd marriage only appears two years after the 1911 census when she is appearing as "Mrs Simpson" perhaps not wanting to appear "living in sin" in 1911
Thomas sr does seem a tricky one to pin down even in the records lol
thank you for all the info - trying to make sense of it
;-)
