Hello, I am still looking for information on Michael Curran and Julia Knowd ie when and where they were born, married and died etc if anyone could please help. Given below are the details of their daughter's birth. They had another daughter, Alice, who was a witness and Anne's wedding to my great grandfather, Edward Rabbitt (now Rabette for some reason). They married in 1890 in Athy. My main research at the moment is for Julia Knowd (and I have been told there are various spellings on this surname)but any help would be much appreciated.

Name:

Anne Curran

Gender:

Female

Birth Date:

22 Sep 1865

Birth Place:

Monasterevin, Kildare, Ireland

Father's Name:

Michael Curran

Mother's Name:

Julia Knowd

Regards

Kathryn

My grandparents (John & Kitty) lived near Suncroft. Brendan is my first cousin but I do not have a email for him at this time. Brendan's parents (Seamus & Joan) still live on Noud family land in Kilrush. Seamus's brother Liam currently lives in the old family home in Kilrush. My brother John has built a house in Cutbush a couple of kilometers from Kilrush while i live in our family home in Leixlip. My father's name was Sean (brother of Liam&Seamus).

Hi, has anyone got contact details for Brendan please? I have tried the email address he left for someone on this thread but it bounces back saying "no such user". I know the last message from him was in 2002 so may well be he's changed his email address.

My great great grandparents were Julia Noud and Michael Curren married 2 August 1858 in Suncroft, two daughters Alicia also known as Alice born 1862 and Anne born 1865. Any connections please?

Kind regards

Kathryn

There are also photos of a family called Bugden.
I would like to give the photos to John Noud's descendents.
My email is
ralphskinner@hotmail.com

Annette, I think we have corresponded before, but to update. There were two James Nouds in Kildare, Ireland in the Kilrush, Athy area. My great grandfather was James Noud and the other James Noud had descendants who settled in the St. Louis area. Both James Nouds are buried in the same cemetery in Athy or a country cemetery close by. The James Noud who is your ancestor was married to Eleanor. My great-grandfather was married to Eliza Broughil. Both families lost a son James at an early age. I am not sure this helps you, but if I can be of further help, let me know. I have my grandfather Michael Noud's siblings names. All are buried in or close to Athy. My grandfather is buried in Kansas. he is the only one who came to America. The name Noud was also spelled Knoud, Gnoud, Knowd.

Tom Noud
tjnoud@ties2.net
(651) 633-8006

THis is to those Noud relatives of mine whose ancestor was John Noud who settled in Mecosta County, Michigan from New York. His mother was Mary O'Malley, and his father was Conrad Nau who was killed in the Civil War in 1863. Family history records that "Johnny" Noud changed his name from Nowe to Noud when he moved to Michigan. I got Conrad Nau's military records from the NARA and it turns out that he was born in Germany. So, our Noud connection to Ireland is non-existent. John's mother was from Ireland...but the O'Malleys are even harder to track than the Nouds.

I am a granddaughter of Gerald Segar and Imogene Berdina (Baldwin) Noud, from Coral Michigan in Montcalm County. They had five children Bradford, John, Garwood, Jedra and Gracene. The last three are still living. I arrived at this site because I am trying to reach Garla (Noud) Porter, who posted messages to this site back in 2001. Apparently her email address posted here is no longer valid. Because of this site I have now been in contact with Janet (Noud) Bredewoud and have sent an email to Mary Ann Noud-Cooper. If there is anyone who knows Garla or any other descendent of the five children of Gerald and Imogene please contact me or pass my email address along to them. Thank you! By the way, I live in McBain Michigan, Jedra also currently lives in McBain MI, Garwood in Arizona and Gracene in California.

My Grandmother Margaret Lewis was the daughter of John Noud. John was Patrick's baby brother. They also had another brother James I believe and a sister named Mary Ann. Do you know anything about them? John was a timber cruiser most of his life. He also bought a farm in Kalkaska County, Michigan in 1890. John became a US citizen in 1887. He married Margaret O'Leary in 1884 in Arnprior, Canada. John and Margaret moved to Oregon in 1911. Eventually ended up in Medford, Oregon. Both John and Margaret are buried in Historic Jacksonville Cemetery.

The name Noud was spelled Knoud, Knowd, Gnoud, and earlier Gunoud. Some of the Nouds who came to America spelled their names with a K. Many Nouds are spelled Knoud and Gnoud on church records in Ireland. Most came from Kildare. Tom Noud

I hope this helps you.
Yes, Mildred was married to Tom Noud, my Mom's brother(Margaret Rose Noud). Mary Harris should be
Mary Harrison. She and her sister, Beverly, live together in San Antonio. Tom, Pat and Billy Noud are their brothers. Billy was killed in Korea. Mildred remarried an O'brian and had a flock of kids!! I didn't know what happened to her family. Uncle Tom is buried in Jacksonville Oregon. Billie in a military cemetary in Portland. I didn't hear from Bev and Mary this Christmas. Hope they are both ok. Haven' heard from the boys in years.

Jeff Coats
