I am researching the Simms/Sims Family. I have found two marriage records for Elias Sims. He married Sarah Norris in 1845 in Meigs Co., Ohio; and either this same Elias Sims or another Elias Sims married Rebecca Norris in 1848 in Athens Co., Ohio.
Does anyone have any information on either of these Norris women as to which family she's a member of?
In the History of Hocking Valley it lists a James Downard who married Mary Simms in 1871 in Jackson Co., Ohio. It states that Mary Simms' parents were Elias and Sarah Norris Simms and that the children from this union were Frank, Elias, and Mary. It also states that these parents died when Mary was very young.
The problem is in Elias Sims marriage record to Mary Minew in New York in 1889 he lists his parents as Elias Sims and Rebecca Norris.
Is it possible that Rebecca and Sarah are sisters? Is it possible that Elias Sims married first Sarah in 1845 and she born Franklin in 1848 and then died in childbirth? Is it possible that then Rebecca and Elias Sims were married shortly thereafter so that she could take care of the child?

I'm just wondering if anyone would be able to shed any light to this family puzzle and help me to be able to know which Norris family is related to the Simms family.
